The Rising Sun | Nikana Prime | Revisited

by last updated 2 years ago

1220

An ancient blade predating the fall of the Orokin Empire. Forged using techniques lost over the centuries, the edge remains sharper than that of any modern Nikana.

The Rising Sun | Nikana Prime | Revisited

Hello everyone,

My name is UltimoFive and today we are going to be revisiting the [Nikana Prime], The Rising Sun.

Weapon Information

  • The [Nikana Prime] is the Prime Version of [Nikana] and was released alongside [Spira Prime] and [Saryn Prime]. In order to obtain the [Nikana] Prime one must open a variety of relics that contain the Blueprint, Hilt, and Blade in order to make it at the foundry.

  • Nikana Prime requires a mastery rank of 12.

  • [Nikana Prime] comes with a "V" and a "D" Polarity Slot, plus a "V" Stance Slot. Because of this, the builds on this weapon will require 2 - 3 Forma.

  • [Nikana Prime] excels in Medium Crowd Slaughter against all factions in High Leveled Areas.

Comparison to the Original Nikana

The Nikana Prime had a lot of buffs when compared to the original Nikana. These stats would be:

  • Higher Base Damage at 198.0 Vs. 142.0

  • Higher Critical Chance at 28% Vs. 16%

  • Higher Critical Multiplier at 2.4x Vs. 2.0x

  • Higher Status Chance at 28% Vs. 16%

  • Higher Attack Speed at 1.08 Vs. 0.92

Advantages Vs. Disadvantages

Advantages:

  • High Critical Chance at 28%

  • High Critical Multiplier at 2.4x

  • High Status Chance at 28%

  • Fast Attack Speed at 1.08

Disadvantages:

  • None...A First for Weapons

Builds

Corpus | 2 Forma | Tested up to Level 150

The Elements for the [Nikana Prime] against the Corpus will be Toxin. Toxin deals 50% base damage per second over 6 seconds and stacks indefinitely with each instance having its own timer. The Build's Flex Slots are [Primed Smite Corpus] or [Gladiator Might] and works very well with the combination of Slash Procs. Slash Procs essentially will eat away at shields, while Toxin Procs go directly for the health, making the weapon into a deadly health chipper. It also works fantastic against all units in the Corpus Faction.

Corrupted & Grineer | Tested up to Level 150

Viral | 2 Forma

Slash | 3 Forma

The Elements for the [Nikana Prime] against the Corrupted and Grineer will be Viral or Slash. Viral amplifies health damage by 100% for 6 seconds and stacks up to 10 times for a total of 325%. Meanwhile, Slash's status effect is Bleed and after 1 second it deals 35% of the base damage per second for 6 seconds, which bypasses armor. The Build's Flex Slots are [Primed Smite Grineer] and Corrupted or [Primed Fury] for the Viral Build and [Gladiator Might] for the Slash Build and they both work great. However, the main differences are the Flex Slots and how damage is focused. Essentially the Pure Slash Build Focuses on Range and True Damage against armored enemies and the Viral Build focuses on just buffed True Damage, via Viral Procs. Also the Slash Build requires one more Forma.

Infested | 2 Forma | Tested up to Level 150

Gas:

Viral:

The Element for the [Nikana Prime] against the Infested will be Gas or Viral. Gas deals 50% base damage per second for 6 seconds in a 3 meter radius and stacks up to 10 times to a total of 6 meters. The Build's Flex Slots are [Primed Smite Infested] or [Primed Fury] and works much better with Gas Element, rather than having Viral. This is what I have been seeing a lot with my Melee Builds, Gas will mainly do better as long as the weapon has Weeping Wounds on it to just have tons of Gas Procs around the field. While Viral just gets the job done.

Heavy Attack Builds

  • Corpus: Toxin | 3 Forma | Tested up to Level 150
  • Corrupted & Grineer: Viral | 3 Forma | Tested up to Level 150
  • Infested: Corrosive | 3 Forma | Tested up to Level 150

The Elements for the [Nikana Prime] with the Heavy Attack Build Set will follow Toxin for the Corpus, Viral for the Corrupted and Grineer, and Corrosive for the Infested. The Flex Slot for the Corpus will be [Gladiator Might] and the other Build's Flex Slots will be their Smite Faction Mod. These Builds are for those who want to utilize the amazing one shot capabilities of the [Nikana Prime]'s Heavy Attack. These Builds can be taken anywhere, just like the Normal Faction Builds and completely demolish those who stand in your path. However, the weapon ends up dealing with Smaller Crowds of enemies or Single Targets, rather than Medium Crowds.

Recommended Alternative Mods

  • Extra Flex Slot - Through the utilization of Arcane Strike a player can Flex Out [Primed Fury] for any mod of their choosing. This is due to how the Arcane functions with giving bonus Attack Speed upon hitting an enemy.

  • Primed Fever Strike - In place of Fever Strike to increase Toxin Damage if one would like to, at the cost of an extra Forma.

  • Smite Mods - In place of their Primed Counterparts if one doesn't have them.

  • Fury, Berserker Fury, or Quickening - In place of Primed Fury if one doesn't have Fury, would prefer stacking Attack Speed, or want Combo Count Chance.

  • (Primed) Pressure Point - In place of Sacrificial Pressure in the Heavy Attack Build if one doesn't have it.

  • True Steel - In place of Sacrificial Steel in the Heavy Attack Build if one doesn't have it.

  • (Primed) Reach - In place of The Build's Flex Slot if one would want more range on the weapon. This mod benefits the Heavy Attack Build Set greatly as well!

  • Amalgam Organ Shatter - In place of Organ Shatter if you use Heavy Attacks and are okay with losing 5% Critical Damage.

  • Gladiator Rush or Drifting Contact - In place of The Build's Flex Slot if one doesn't have Naroman focus or can't handle the combo chain duration.

Synergy with the Nikana Prime

There are several ways to enhance Critical Stats and Damage for this weapon:

Damage:

  • Rhino's Roar adds bonus damage.

  • Valkyr's Warcry, which bolsters Attack Speed, in turn increasing DPS.

  • [Nova]'s Molecular Prime makes all sources of damage increase by 100% against primed enemies, on top of that they will detonate upon death dealing blast damage.

  • Mirage's Eclipse mixed with her Hall of Mirrors adds a massive damage bonus during the day or in light.

  • Saryn's Toxic Lash mixed with her Spores abilities.

  • Wisp's Haste Reservoir, which bolsters Attack Speed, in turn increasing DPS.

  • Equinox's Rest & Rage in Day Form makes targets more vulnerable to Damage.

  • Volt's Speed, which bolsters Attack Speed, in turn increasing DPS.

  • Chroma's Vex Armor when Health gets damaged increases Weapon Damage.

Critical Chance:

  • Harrow's Covenant can add up to 50% Critical Chance and 200% on headshots (Somehow works with melee, but whatever).

  • Adarza Kavat with Cat's Eye can give a 60% Critical Chance boost.

  • Smeeta Kavat with Charm can give a 200% Crit Chance.

Arcane Synergy

  • Arcane Fury - On Critical Hit, 60% chance for 180% Melee Damage to Melee Weapons for 18 seconds.

  • Arcane Blade Charger - On Primary Weapon Kill, 30% chance for 300% Melee Damage for 12 seconds.

  • Arcane Strike - On Hit, 15% chance for 60% Attack Speed to Melee Weapons for 18 seconds.

Riven Synergy

When you get your hands on a Riven for this weapon the Flex Slot to replace will be what was previously discussed before. This may require 1 more Forma and in order to maximize Damage output with the Nikana Prime, one will need to get lucky and get some nice stats. My Ideal Stats would be:

  • Ideal Faction Stats - My Ideal Stats would be; Critical Chance, Critical Damage, Attack Speed and Negative Finisher Damage.

  • Ideal Heavy Attack Stats - My Ideal Heavy Attack Stats would be; Initial Combo, Critical Chance, Critical Damage and Negative Finisher Damage.
