The Javlock is a really unique weapon. While many dismiss it at first glance, it has a few unique traits that help carve out a legitimate and fun niche for it to fill:

• The Javlock's alternate fire thows it like an explosive spear, dealing damage based on how many shots were in the clip. Then while it is on the ground or holstered it auto-reloads. This makes it perfect for quickly applying AoE status to enemies and followed by using a melee weapon while it reloads.
• Its unique mod Amalgam Javlock Magazine Warp lets shields stack the combo counter while blocking (a massive buff to am often forgotten mechanic). It also increases the damage of the Alt-fire slightly by expanding the maximum clip size.

These can then be further supported by using mods that help a melee weapon:

• [Amalgam Serration] gives sprint speed that is great for gap closing
• [Primed Firestorm] lets each throw hit more enemies reducing how frequently it needs to be used
• All the Status Chance mods combine to get over 100% status chance and offer Viral and Heat procs (the best status types)
• Primary Dexterity at max rank offers 7.5 seconds of combo duration.

These all combine together to create a fun playstyle for those that love tanks. Blocking can be converted into damage by stacking the combo counter and using the Javlock to quickly apply a status to a group of enemies. It make it a perfect companion for a shield weapon such as Silva & Aegis. It makes the Javlock a uniquely useful weapon worth adding to an arsenal.
