The Heat Wave | Ignis Wraith | Revisited

Hello everyone,

My name is UltimoFive and today we are going to be revisiting the [Ignis Wraith], The Heat Wave.

Weapon Information

  • The [Ignis Wraith] is the wraith version of the [Ignis] and is obtained by buying the weapon form Baro Ki'Teer, when he has it in stock, for 250,000 Credits and 550 Ducats, can be traded from a player who has it at rank 0 with no Forma or Orokin Catalyst installed, or it can be obtained in the Veil Proxima Grineer controlled territory in Empyrean missions through Abandoned Derelict Caches.

  • Ignis Wraith requires a mastery rank of 9

  • [Ignis Wraith] comes with no Polarity Slots, other than a "V" Exilus Polarity Slot and because of this the builds for this weapon require 5 forma.

  • [Ignis Wraith] excels in short to Medium Range Combat, dealing with High Leveled enemies of all factions in Small to Extremely Large Crowds.

Comparison to Original Ignis

The Ignis Wraith has a lot of buffs when compared to the original Ignis in different areas. These stats would be:

  • Higher Base Damage at 35.0 Vs. 33.0

  • Higher Critical Chance at 17% Vs. 11%

  • Higher Critical Multiplier at 2.5x Vs. 2.0x

  • Higher Status Chance at 29% Vs. 27%

  • Larger Magazine Capacity at 200 rounds Vs. 150 rounds

  • Longer Reach at 27 meters Vs. 20 meters

Advantages Vs. Disadvantages

Advantages:

  • High Critical Multiplier at 2.5x

  • High Status Chance at 29%

  • Pinpoint Accuracy

  • Infinite Punch Through against enemies

  • Consumes 0.5 ammo per tick of damage

Disadvantages:

  • Damage Ramps up from 35% to 100% over 0.6 Seconds when firing. After firing stops for 0.8 Seconds the damage decays back to 35% over 2 Seconds.

  • Innate Punch Through doesn't apply to surfaces, making Punch Through mods required for it to go through surfaces.

Builds

Corpus: Suggested up to level 150

Magnetic/Heat:

Viral/Radiation:

The Elements for the Ignis Wraith against the Corpus will be Magnetic/Heat, Magnetic/Slash, or Viral/Radiation. Magnetic amplifies shield damage by 100% and nullifies [Regen] of shields for 6 seconds which stacks up to 10 times for a total of 325%. Meanwhile Radiation causes enemies to attack each other while dealing 100% additional damage to the allied for 12 seconds. This effect can stack up to 10 times up to 550%. The Build's Flex Slot is Primed Bane of Corpus or Thermite Rounds and is great. Against Steel Path Corpus enemies Magnetic/Heat or Magnetic/Slash is better. However, one can make due with just Viral/Radiation while they aren't in the Steel Path.

Corrupted & Grineer: Suggested up to level 150

The Elements for the Ignis Wraith against the Corrupted and Grineer will be Viral/Heat or Viral/Slash. Viral amplifies health damage by 100% for 6 seconds and stacks up to 10 times for a total of 325%. Meanwhile, Heat deals 50% base damage per second over 6 seconds while stripping up to 50% armor and causes targets to panic. The Build's Flex Slot is [Primed Bane Of Grineer] or Corrupted or [Speed Trigger] and is fantastic. This works great against the Corrupted and Grineer without the use of [Hunter Munitions] and was a bit of a surprise to me. I really enjoyed remaking this build specifically due to almost tripling damage output.

Infested: Suggested up to level 150

Gas:

Viral/Heat:

The Element for the Ignis Wraith against the Infested will be Gas or Viral/Heat. Gas deals 50% base damage per second for 6 seconds in a 3 meter radius and stacks up to 10 times to a total of 6 meters. The Build's Flex Slot is [Primed Bane Of Infested] or [Thermite Rounds] and is fantastic. Like in most situations I prefer Gas due to its Damage over Time clouds that linger and just completely kill off low-tiered infested. However, it may have a bit of an issue against the Higher tiered enemies such as the Boilers in the Steel Path and that is why Viral/Heat is a good secondary option to go with.

Recommended Alternative Mods

  • Vigilante Supplies - In place of having no Exilus Mod. This will cost 2 more Forma in order to have, but can help with the weapons Ammo and increased Crit enhancement.

  • Sinister Reach - In place of having no Exilus Mod. This will cost 2 more Forma in order to have, but can extend the beam length.

  • Critical Delay or Point Strike - In place of Galvanized Scope if one doesn't have access to the mod through Arbitration or prefers just Flat Critical Chance.

  • Serration - In place of Galvanized Aptitude if one doesn't have access to the mod through Arbitration.

  • Split Chamber - In place of Galvanized Chamber if one doesn't have access to the mod through Arbitration.

  • Cryo Rounds - In place of Primed Cryo Rounds if one doesn't have it.

  • Bane Mods - In place of their Primed Counterparts if one doesn't have them.

  • Vile Acceleration - In place of the Build's Flex Slot if one want more Fire Rate at the cost of a bit of Damage.

  • Bladed Rounds - In place of the Build's Bane Faction Mod if one don't like using Faction Mods.

  • Hunter Munitions - In place of the Build's Second Flex Slot if one wants Slash Procs.

Synergy with Ignis Wraith

There are several ways to enhance Critical Stats and Damage for this weapon:

Damage:

  • Rhino's Roar adds bonus damage.

  • [Nova]'s Molecular Prime makes all sources of damage increase by 100% against primed enemies, on top of that they will detonate upon death dealing blast damage.

  • Mirage's Eclipse mixed with her Hall of Mirrors adds a massive damage bonus during the day or in light.

  • Saryn's Toxic Lash mixed with her Spores abilities.

  • Equinox's Rest & Rage in Day Form makes targets more vulnerable to Damage.

  • Wisp's Haste Reservoir bolsters fire rate, in turn increasing DPS.

  • Banshee's Sonar gives a Weapon Damage Multiplier.

  • Chroma's Vex Armor when Health gets damaged increases Weapon Damage.

Critical Stats:

  • Harrow's Covenant can add up to 50% Critical Chance and 200% on headshots.

  • Volt's Electric Shield when shot through adds a 200% Critical Damage Multiplier.

  • Zephyr's Passive increases Critical Chance by 150% while airborne.

  • Adarza Kavat with Cat's Eye can give a 60% Critical Chance boost.

  • Smeeta Kavat with Charm can give a 200% Crit Chance.

Arcane Synergy

  • Arcane Acceleration - Upon Critical Hit, 30% chance for 90% Fire Rate to Primary Weapons for 9 seconds.

  • Arcane Rage - Upon getting Headshot, 15% chance for 180% Damage to Primary Weapons for 24 seconds.

  • Arcane Avenger - Upon being damaged, 21% chance for 45% Critical Chance for 12 seconds.

  • Arcane Primary Charger - On Melee Kill, 30% chance for 300% damage to Primary Weapons for 12 seconds.

  • Arcane Arachne - On Wall Latch, 150% Damage for 30 seconds.

Primary Arcane

  • Primary Merciless - On Kill 30% Damage for 4 seconds, which stacks up to 12 times and comes with 30% Reload Speed and 100% Max Ammo. This Arcane I would say is the most beneficial to the Ignis Wraith if one chooses to not aim for Headshots.

  • However, Primary Deadhead focuses on Headshots and provides upon getting a kill 120% Damage for 24 seconds, which stacks up to 3 times and comes with 30% Headshot Multiplier and -50% Weapon Recoil. This Arcane, since it focuses on Headshots, is more for those who are always going to be trying to aim for the head.

Riven Synergy

When you get your hands on a Riven for this weapon the Flex Slot to replace will be what was previously discussed before. This may require 1 or 2 more Forma and in order to maximize Damage output with the Ignis Wraith, one will need to get lucky and get some nice stats. These stats would be:

  • Ideal Stats - The Ideal Stats would be; Critical Chance, Critical Damage, Fire Rate and Negative Zoom or Weapon Recoil.
