Air Tank Hildryn - Steel Path

PURPOSE

This is a tank build that is intended for starchart, SP, and as with lazy tank/ DR-based builds, maybe last a couple of hours in SP endless missions. With [Hildryn] lacking any source of innate DR, we compensate with [Aerodynamic], Boreal Set mods, and [Aviator]. Shields also have innate 25% DR. All in all, with this build's mods listed above, this totals to 72.64% DR, not counting [Adaptation] itself, and potential DR increase from polearm wielding Boreal's contempt . Her iconic ability, Pillage, in a way compensates for the lack of self-buffs.

(By the way feel free to correct me on my maths)

Shield + [Aviator] + [Aerodynamic] + 1 Boreal mod = 72.64% DR
Shield + [Aviator] + [Aerodynamic] + 2 Boreal mod = 79.48% DR
Shield + [Aviator] + [Aerodynamic] + 3 Boreal mod = 86.32% DR
Shield + [Aviator] + [Aerodynamic] + 1 Boreal mod + [Adaptation] at 90 = 97.26% DR
Shield + [Aviator] + [Aerodynamic] + 3 Boreal mod + [Adaptation] at 90 = 98.6% DR

IF I'M SPAMMING PILLAGE FOR STRIPPING ANYWAY, AREN'T I BASICALLY SHIELDGATING ANYWAY MAKING THOSE DR MODS POINTLESS?

Well, u-uh... yes? But also fuck you I wanted to make a lazy tank build ok :(
But is it really lazy if I have to stay in the air all the fucking time? maybe not, but when I play warframe I move like a kid high on sugar so...

STAT RATIONALE

Pillage is [Hildryn]'s most important ability, as it both replenishes her shields and armor strips the enemy. as of this update. Armor strip is now permanent and based on total armor value, thus, it may no longer be important to stack high power strength if one can tolerate multiple casts. For now, I will go with the traditional high power strength at the cost of duration and efficiency.

With a potential power strength of 322% is for increased armor strip for pillage. It also benefits [Balefire Charger] shots, if one likes to use them.

60% power efficiency would seem low but largely irrelevant thanks to pillage.

72.5% power duration means pillage returns faster.

Power range is dependent on one's preference. It is usually preferred to at least keep it at 100%. Do keep in mind that Balefire's AoE is also based on this one. To sell you more on Balefire, it is an AoE weapon with no falloff and no stagger With the current set up, this is at 6.26m radius, which isn't bad, still requires some aim.

FLEX SLOT AND SUBSUMES

The last mod, [Stretch], is a flex slot and it can be whatever you want it to be, or an augment from one of potential subsumes. Aegis storm is the ability that is usually replaced due to extremely high drain cost and being locked to only using balefire charger.

Flex spot options include:

  • shield capacity increasing mods like Augur Accord, or (primed) Vigor.
  • Boreal's anguish for an additional 20% airborne DR
  • Blazing Pillage for fighting against infested
  • Power drift for additional power strength
  • [Natural Talent] for QoL

I intentionally have the list unsubsumed as there can be many options depending on playstyle, The potential subsumes are as follows:

CC abilities like Condemn, Gloom, Ensnare, Shooting Gallery with [Muzzle Flash] augment are all useful to replace [Hildryn]'s mediocre CC. It may be wise to increase power range if one plans to subsume these, adjustment is advised.

Offensive buffs are also decent like [Rhino]'s Roar and [Mirage]'s Eclipse which also function as a DR source.

Utility/Defensive buffs like [Chroma]'s Elemental Ward if one wants more shields(if set to electric), and [Protea]'s Dispensary if using an ammo-inefficient weapon.

ARCANES

Both Arcane Aegis and Arcane Barrier are used to complement a high-DR high shield capacity build, as this provides ample opportunity to proc them. Arcane Aegis in particular if triggered, activates innate shield regeneration despite damage, which is incredibly useful for [Hildryn].

One can also use Arcane Avenger to improve [Balefire Charger]'s pitiful crit rate and allows a potential [Balefire Charger] crit build, or Arcane Velocity for faster pew-pews. If one is really obligated to attain 400% power strength, Molt Augmented provides an additional 60% power strength after 250 kills, useful for endless missions.

COMPANIONS

While one can use the popular Panzer Vulpaphyla for viral priming, Hildryn's insane ability to provide shields and reliance on shields makes her well-positioned with synergy to a few robotic mods, which can only be accessed by sentinels, MOAs, and hounds.

Guardian is a built-in Arcane barrier in the case one's shields went down to 0. 30s cooldown.

Shield Charger's shield regeneration is useless, but 60% increased capacity is pretty nice. Lasts 10s with a cooldown of 30s.

MOA companions are amusing and fun in particular, as not only they are robotic, they can use Tractor Beam to airglide and receive those airborne DR a bit longer. Also, the Blast Shield precept boosts the MOA's overshield capacity by an insane amount, coupled with Link-shields leads to a very shieldy MOA.

ARCHON SHARDS

With the implementation of archon shards, they have made it infinitely easier to [Reach] that 400% power strength for complete strip with Pillage (farming these shards aside, that is, curse thee time gates). That said, another consideration would be casting speed and parkour velocityfrom the amber archon shard. Everything else feels mediocre on [Hildryn].

BUILD VARIANTS

"[Adaptation] is enough" : Replace [Aerodynamic] with [Growing Power], Aviator with anything else, Boreal with anything else, or keep it for the shield capacity. If you're going for a balefire-focused build, I suggest more range mods like [Augur Reach] or [Cunning Drift], or even [Overextended] if not going for endless. You can also replace arcane barrier with molt augmented for more power strength or molt efficiency for more duration.
