Gauss (Overshields / Tanky / Q Spam) All-Rounder Build

DISCLAIMER: This is my first time to make a build/guide so please go easy on me. I also put this here to check people's feedback and assess my ability in modding warframes. The mods I placed here are only based on what I feel can be good for him for the scenarios I'll be giving. However, I am only MR15 so far and been playing for more than a month so my game knowledge isn't as good as most of yours.

Personally, this is my General Build which I don't only use on regular star chart missions but also on railjack (against sentients) and steel path. I don't understand why a lot of people opt for sprint speed. Correct me if I'm wrong but do any of his abilities scale with sprint speed? Anyway, I'm not really a huge fun of sprinting around that much to need a huge boost to my sprint speed (to each his own :D) and I would rather have an all-rounder build that is capable of dealing decent damage while also has good survivability.

Also, there are other builds out there with no negative stats (Duration, Efficiency, Range, & Strength) but at the cost of EHP.

Might I add that my mods aren't yet maxed so I haven't reached this values yet but so far, I'm feeling good about it. It's a costly build with 6 Forma and a lot of endo and I personally do not know it's all worth it but one thing I've been told since at the start of playing this game is to use/play what appeals to me, so here is my [Gauss] build.

1.) Strength = 100%; just enough for the 100% damage reduction with his Kinetic Plating ability.

2.) Efficiency = 175%; I'm not really sure why I opted for this but having max efficiency + [Primed Flow] + [Hildryn]'s Pillage = overshields for days & unlimited ability spam. Since we have a very low health pool and armor, having reliable shields helps especially against higher level enemies (SP & Sentients).

3.) Duration = 232%; This speaks for itself as you want Redline and Kinetic Plating to last as long as possible.

4.) Range = 34%; As you can see, I replaced Thermal Sunder with [Hildryn]'s Pillage. The reason behind this is for emergency survival just in case you mess up your combos or positioning this helminth change boosts your survivability. The best thing about Thermal Sunder is that you can proc multiple statuses with it and the best among those is to completely remove enemy armor with Blast proc under 100% Redline. This can still be achieved albeit to a minimal extent with [Hildryn]'s Pillage. The status cleanse also helps a lot since [Gauss]' Kinetic Plating's damage reduction is only limited to IPS, Heat, Cold, and Blast and I find toxin or heat to be the bane of Gauss as the DoT bypasses his Kinetic Plating.

  • Brief Respite can be replaced with Sprint Boost / Energy Sipon / Corrosive Projection - it all depends on what you think you need most. However, this helps with shield gating since shield gating, [Rolling Guard], [Adaptation], and Kinetic Plating are your primary sources of survivability. Even with only base health and armor, Gauss can survive against lvl 100+ enemies on SP with this build.

  • [Adaptation] for the damage reduction in cases of being affected with Magnetic which depletes your energy thereby disabling you to cast Kinetic Plating as well as against Toxin and Electricity which bypass Kinetic Plating. Can be swapped out for Armored Agility for the boost in sprint.

  • Equipped Arcanes are for survivability but you can replace any of the two with Arcane Energize for some energy management.

  • I know it's probabily overkill but my Operator Arcanes are Magus Elevate + Magus Repair for some clutch healing in case I mess up in SP. I'll probably changing those once I get better ones.

  • Equipment include Viral / Crit build for the Acceltra and Viral/Slash build for the [Guandao Prime].
