Forbidden Techniques from the Grimoire of Gloom: Baruuk

This series serves as a spiteful testament to the unwavering power of Sevagoth's Helminth subsume: Gloom.

Shards:

As always, shards are a luxury and are not mandatory.

  • R: 0
  • Y: 2 + Cast Speed
  • B: 3 + Energy Max

Ability Breakdown:

1: Gloom
Gloom slows down enemies in range, which will also drastically slow down Lull's sleep animation. Because [Baruuk] is so strength hungry, we can run max slow Gloom (95% slow), which will make the animations take a staggering (hehe) 20x longer.

2: Lull
The purpose of this ability is 2-fold: to erode Restraint and to crowd control our enemies. The negative duration here allows us to spam Lull as much as possible, which gives us faster Restraint build-up. As mentioned above, Gloom also slows down the animations, which, like Silence, drastically increases how long enemies are incapacitated for.

3: Desolate Hands
Desolate Hands acts as a layer of damage reduction for [Baruuk], capping out at 90% DR at 9 daggers. These daggers will also erode a small portion of your Restraint, but will do so rather slowly. Recast at around 9-10 stacks of Desolate Hands remaining to make sure you keep up maximum damage resistance.

4: Serene Storm (augmented)
[Baruuk]'s signature move. [Reactive Storm] lets [Desert Wind] adapt to enemy weaknesses in addition to granting extra status chance. You can also spam Lull while Serene Storm is active to keep eroding Restraint as it builds up.

Arcanes:

Arcane Energize: The go-to method to top off your energy. As long as you aren't hitting the 10 energy/s effective cap of Energize, you shouldn't have a problem.

Molt Augmented: The easiest source of free strength. There are some downsides, one is that you may have to recast if you want to use Gloom early, as Gloom snapshots your current strength on cast. The other is that it is not fit for shorter missions because of the 250 kill requirement.

Stats:

  • - DUR: Duration is dumped so we can spam cast Lull and quickly erode our Restraint.
  • + EFF: Because we are running Gloom and spamming Lull, that will take a toll on our energy economy, so having increased efficiency helps alleviate that burden.
  • + RNG: This is mostly for Gloom, as Lull already has a rather large base range.
  • + STR: Gloom, Desolate Hands, and Serene Storm all scale from strength, so we try to maximize it as much as possible.

Other Notes:

  • Here is a link to Ninjase's [Desert Wind] build.
  • [Melee Guidance] is run to make sure [Baruuk] does not gain any combo through Serene Storm. Before the companion rework, [Melee Guidance] was run in conjunction with a stat stick running Gladiator mods as, for some reason, [Desert Wind] inherits the critical chance set bonus. I believe that still works now, but the companion rework made it possible to gain combo despite [Melee Guidance] giving negative combo duration. Using a [Panzer Vulpaphyla] with [Tandem Bond] and [Swipe], the companion can generate combo for you, and the combo will never decay. This means you can always hit with x12 combo waves.
