Description
Lex Prime: As hard hitting as a mini-truck.
The build is a fairly standard mid to endgame build that makes use of [Lex Prime]'s high innate critical chance coupled with Viral + Heat (arguably the strongest combo in the game right now).
It'll work against all factions relatively well, but is weakest versus Corpus due to their shields. (Heat & Puncture dealing reduced damage vs shields), however it'll still get the job done with a couple more shots quite well.
It's very effective versus Grineer and Infested (Viral & Heat making a strong combo against Grineer, and Heat being innately effective versus Infested).
Customizing the build
Should you wish for some additional status chance, one can swap out [Deep Freeze] with [Frostbite].
If it's more upfront damage you seek, use [Pathogen Rounds] instead of [Pistol Pestilence], at the cost of some status chance, and the need of one additional forma for a Naramon polarity.
Build cost
The build as shown here requires 6 Forma. However, one may opt to leave out Steady Hands, in this case the build requiring only 5 Forma.
Per-mod explanation: reasons why
Hornet Strike
- Core mod on just about any secondary. A 220% damage increase is a must have, no debate necessary.
Primed Target Cracker
- It should be self explanatory, but this mod is used to boost Lex Prime's base 25% critical hit chance up to 71.8%, giving almost 3/4th the chance of hitting a critical hit per bullet. This is calculated on every bullet fired separately, which coupled with multishot, will nearly guarantee at least 1 crit every time you pull the trigger.
Primed Pistol Gambit
- This should come as no surprise, since we have nearly guaranteed crits, we boost the damage that said crits do. Critical hits will do 4.2 times the damage a regular hit does with this mod!
Barrel Diffusion
- Multishot is a no-brainer. Multishot increases the chance that for every shot you fire, one additional shot is spawned, completely free! This means just another bullet that deals the damage, can critical hit, and can apply a status effect! What's not to love?
Lethal Torrent
- More multishot! Combined with [Barrel Diffusion], you'll be firing 3 bullets for the price of one almost all the time, occasionally only getting 2. On top of that, [Lethal Torrent] adds Fire Rate, which [Lex Prime] can use as fairly slow Fire Rate and Reload Speed are its main weaknesses. Sadly, we don't have the necessary room to "fix" the reload speed issue with any mods.
Deep Freeze
- Cold elemental mod needed to combine into Viral. Viral is currently the top status effect, as it can boost your damage done to health by up to 325%! (Totalling 425% health damage) With Corrossive's latest change, while still good versus armored units, it is no longer the top status effect.
Pistol Pestilence
- Toxin mod to combine with Cold to create Viral, as well as add some status chance that, combined with the multishot from [Barrel Diffusion] and Lethal Torrent, will have a very high chance of applying a status effect every time you pull the trigger. Spread that Viral fire!
Primed Heated Charge
- Heat has a flat 50% armor reduction when it procs, and deals DoT that increases as your heat procs stack! The armor reduction and DoT, combined with Viral (and the gracious amounts of damage and critical hit chance we already have), will give almost every enemy struggling to survive.
Steady Hands
- This mod isn't necesary, but if you can spare the time to forma an additional time, you can slot this mod in for 60% recoil reduction every time you fire. It pairs well with the Fire Rate increase from [Lethal Torrent], and overall just makes it easier to land all your shots in quick succession. If you don't want to Forma one additional time, you can leave this mod out and grab the main build for only 5 Forma!
Notes
On Primed mods:
- If a player does not have the Primed version of a mod, they may opt to use the normal version instead. This will require less forma and less Endo + Credits, but you'll lose out on a lot of damage potential, so be wary of that.
