this weapon sucks, do not use it, it is a trap. DE pays people to say its good so you go out of your way to get it, and somewhere along the way you will end up spending plat.

lets compare it to what is in my mind the far easier to obtain, the [Phantasma] and prime variant

first up, crit stats, [Ignis] has far better stats, but if you know anything about beam weapons you know why that means jack fucking shit. beam weapons kill purely through their capability to build up status effects thanks to the unique way fire rate and multishot interacts with beams. fire rate increases your proc rate of status effects, and essentially is double the effect of traditional weapons, its hard to explain in a simple way so just trust me on this. and multishot, if you have used a beam weapon you will notice that no matter how much multishot you have, you always have the single beam, what is happening is rather than add another beam, you are mathematically increasing your damage and status chance, which when you consider the way fire rate effects status proc chance, you can see how damage and status can get a little crazy.

now fire rate, you know how important fire rate is for beam weapons, and i shouldnt have to explain why the [Phantasma] is better.

now [Mag] size, the [Phantasma] has an abysmal [Mag] size when compared to the [Ignis], but this issue gets fixed when you look at the reload time on the [Phantasma].

now multishot, the [Phantasma] has an innate multishot of 6. 6 is greater than 1, thats basic math. and since we have that base of 6, any multishot mod is going to effect that value that much more, and we all know how important multishot is for beam weapons.

now for status chance, ive been harping on how important status is, and yes the [Ignis] does have better status, but the innate multishot and the point above means that the [Phantasma] just beats the [Ignis] out.

now for damage types, the [Ignis] has one at base and it is heat. this is a bad thing, because most beam weapons will mod for a combination element and a single element, by having that heat you are forced to run heat. now heat is a good element, potentially one of the best but on some builds you wont need or want it. the [Phantasma] has two, impact and radiation, this allows us to mod whatever element we want without issue. also having two elements at base is really nice because it increases the damage we get from gun co, while the [Ignis] only has one.

all of this means nothing when you finally get the [Torid] incarnon, but the [Phantasma] is still a very good gun, it was even part of the loadout i used the first time i went to level cap.
