Playable Pillage Gyre with no shield gating! Massive Nukes, Overshields, and Survivability.

This build retains the nuking awesomeness of Pillage armor strip [Gyre] without requiring shield gating and [Rolling Guard] nonsense.

Here's a dirty little secret: shield gating and [Rolling Guard] suck. Sure, losers like to talk about what's "possible" on paper, but in practice, when you are running around with 100 armor and 300 health with a decaying dragon key and 135 shields, you are eventually going to be splattered all over the wall. You know those idiots who you have to rez every 3 minutes, ruining your steel path run? They are "shield gating". Idiots.

Archon Shards

  • 4x red ability strength
  • 1x blue armor (Tauforged is almost mandatory, because the extra gain from 100 armor is huge)

This gives you enough ability strength to reach 400% with molt augmented and gives you much more armor than your base 100.

Mods

  • You lose a tiny bit of range by giving up Augur Reach, you drop Rolling Guard entirely, and use Umbral Vitality and Redirection instead.
  • The [Umbral Vitality] when combined with a single blue +armor Archon Shard gives you far greater survivability. If you are poor, you can switch out [Umbral Vitality] for regular [Vitality] but using an Umbral Forma is highly recommended, because it boosts both Umbral Vitality and Umbral Intensify, pushing you closer to the 400% ability strength you need for full armor strip on Pillage.
  • [Redirection] on a frame that already has high shields when combined with Pillage makes you extremely tanky. Just cast Pillage and watch your overshields jump into the thousands.
  • [Blind Rage], [Umbral Intensify], and Transient Fortitude are mandatory on this build, because we need 100% armor strip from Pillage, which requires 400% ability stremgth.
  • [Cathode Current] is also mandatory, because it transforms [Gyre] from a clunky C tier frame to a high A and arguably S tier. It amps the damage of 4 and also adds duration to it, allowing 3 and 4 to be up permanently.
  • [Primed Continuity] is mandatory as it boosts duration massively, which helps when there are spells with no enemies to nuke and sustain your 3 and 4.
  • [Archon Stretch] is a slight improvement on [Stretch]. You don't really need the extra energy, so if you want to use generic [Stretch] that's fine. Unfortunately downgrading to [Stretch] doesn't clear up enough free space for two Umbral mod slots, so the build will require at least one Umbral Forma unless you want to run regular Vitality.

Helminth Subsume

  • Subsume Pillage over Arcsphere. Coil Horizon is a valuable ability as it has grouping utility, and deals nearly as much damage as Arcsphere anyway. Pillage is the key to making this build work. It strips 100% of enemy armor at 400% ability strength, which allows your Rotorswell to one-shot everything with electricity damage. Pillage also charges your (now substantial) shields massively. It's so much that it resets your shield gate without Decaying Dragon Key, which gives you the survivability of massive shields AND the temporary invulnerability of a full shield gate. This makes you extremely difficult to kill, even if you make a mistake.

Playstyle

  1. Use [Amprex] as your primary. It will proc electricity on everything, which gives massive bonuses with [Gyre]'s passive. For your secondary, load it up with 2x Augur Mods. More shields = good. Do NOT use a decaying dragon key unless you want to be that moron who needs a rez every 3 minutes. If you do not like [Amprex], use a shotgun that has [Primed Charged Shell] on it as the last standalone elemental mod, so you have many electricity statuses procing.
  2. Start with Wellspring from the Zenurik tree to get some energy.
  3. Cast 3, kill some stuff, Cast 4. You are now a walking death machine.
  4. As soon as you see your first group of enemies, cast 1 Pillage. This will strip their armor/shields, and give you a massive overshield boost.
  5. Run around and shoot stuff with your [Amprex]. You'll fry enemies with your 4 and see red crits everywhere while your Rotorswell deletes entire groups of armor stripped enemies.
  6. Repeat 4 and 5. You should have no trouble with survivability, because you will have ridiculous overshields from Pillage.
  7. Also, you can use your 2 Coil Horizon. It's a great grouping tool and procs 4.

Enjoy!
