The true power of Gauss and Thermal Sunder

As far as I have talked with people I have never once met a single player who knows how thermal sunder works fully. Plat rewards for anyone who could describe it and tons of time just idly sharing this build with people I met in game, everything. As such I am going to share this knowledge here.

Thermal sunder is a misunderstood ability by many. On the surface it looks like just a hazard of damage ability, often making many avoid it and build for redline instead. Others vy for the armor strip of it but never really learn past that, noticing the powerful CC and AoE armor strip is better than the duration build but not the rest of the potential.

The real power lies in the blast effect and heat effect. Thought the blast armor stripping was the best part? No it isn't. It reacts to heat procs much like expedite suffering, stripping them off enemies and dealing all remaining damage in that single hit, after the armor strip for added power.

On top of this, heat deals damage based on existing heat procs. It deals all existing heat procs damage + its own damage. Basically just double + change. Cast again and it just goes up exponentially from there, [Archon Vitality] breaks it even more by making it triple every time.

So you have heat procs that triple + change in power every cast and the means to strip them all like expedite suffering on top of armor strip prior to the damage. If that doesn't sound absolutely broken, or ridiculous to you then you really need to do some math.

So 2-3 casts of heat with neutral strength and redline maxed out will clear everything on the steel path star chart. 7 casts even has the potential to 1 shot level cap enemies with BASE STRENGTH.

The build means to give you the strength too use redline + kinetic plating for God mode, and the range + efficiency to use TS for nuking. You use 2 archon shards for casting speed (only 1 if you have tauforged) and 3 for energy max (only 2 if they are tauforged). It's possible to replace [Vitality] with [Flow] and [Cunning Drift] with [Speed Drift] but it is a MASSIVE drop in DPS.
