This weapon's grouping mechanic makes it perfect for Gas since gas has a small AOE effect to it, doing damage to targets close to the effected target. The more you group together with gas procs all hurting each other the DOT damage ramps up FAST! Really shines in high enemy density missions.

Viral doubles the effectiveness of the gas, and faction mods triple dip on Gas damage, Multishot for both increased raw damage and more chances to proc status with each shot, more base damage with Serration, Heavy Cal, and Merciless. Vile Acc for fast follow-up shots.

Gas just like Slash, does not increase the DOT damage with the number next to the stat itself, it goes off base damage and crit and whatever you can do to get more out of those like faction mods which are applied to the end of the equation, abilities like Roar/Eclipse.
