Each arrow spawns a swarm of sticky appendages on impact. These tongue-like probes latch onto nearby unfortunates and drag them close before bursting into a mess of diseased goo.

Fox's Proboscis

An impressive and grotesque tool of destruction.
We run [Primed Cryo Rounds] and [Malignant Force] to enhance the weapon's innate Viral damage and enhance the status chance, as well as [Thermite Rounds] and [Hellfire] for a high component of Heat damage and additional status chance. I've experimented with running Corrosive instead of additional Viral to see if the armor strip and armor ignore is worth it but I found that in reality it only dilutes down the Slash, Heat, and Viral from the tendrils and explosion, especially against alloy armored targets like Grineer heavy units. By just running straight Heat and Viral, we have universal damage scaling and armor strip that proc extremely quickly, as well as a component of Slash damage inflicted by the tendrils. Overall damage output from [Primed Cryo Rounds] is much higher as well.

We run [Vile Acceleration] because the loss in damage is minimal compared to how hard damage ticks from tendrils scale up both status and instances of damage. Rather than having three tendrils ticking against a group of enemies for 15% more damage, you can instead have nine all ticking on enemies at once, each one dealing its own suite of damage and status procs for exponentially more.

Since [Galvanized Aptitude] does not affect AoE damage and tendrils do not gain bonus status chance from status mods, we run flat damage with an anti-faction mod or Serration and Primed Firestorm to mitigate damage falloff and increase blast radius for maximum devestation. Anti-faction works best for damage since it calculates extra DoT against the faction it is targeting, but running a generalist damage mod like [Serration] works just as well for most situations.

The main downside to this weapon is that tendrils will not grab unique enemies (arena mini bosses) or bosses, nor will the tendrils grab onto eximus units who still have overguard, so it's best to aim for direct hits on eximus units; reserve this weapon for horde missions and keep a reliable single target sidearm on standby.

Have fun!
