Sevagoth's Shadow: General Use

Sevagoth's Shadow Gameplay Guide

[Sevagoth's Shadow] is a special form that is activated when [Sevagoth] uses Exalted Shadow or when he enters his bleedout state. It has its own ability set and has access to many different binary options for builds. It also has many special interactions with certain mods so it needs a slightly different mindset when crafting your loadout.

📝 Build Overview 📝

There are many ways to use the tools from the Shadow which can range from crowd control, debuffs, and even being your primary source of damage or survivability. This build attempts to utilize several of these aspects for general use.

🔢 Helminth Options 🔢

[Sevagoth's Shadow] is unable to use subsumed abilities but some options still carry over from the base frame. Be mindful of the effects that each ability will have on both aspects of [Sevagoth]'s kit.

Dispensary provides free health and energy while you're roaming in the Shadow.

Eclipse can use the [Total Eclipse] augment to buff the Shadow while even though you're not currently using [Sevagoth].

Other abilities can work but have a lot of redundancy or require you to babysit each ability by constantly switching between each form. Use them at your own discretion.

📊 Ability Stats 📊

Strength is the primary focus of this build with Duration, Efficiency, and Range kept a bit above the baseline to benefit multiple abilities.

⏲️ Duration ⏲️

Duration is slightly boosted to benefit Death's Harvest. Flex mods can be replaced for additional Duration but it has little benefit on your other abilities.

⛽ Efficiency ⛽

Efficiency is slightly boosted to allow additional usage of multiple abilities. [Streamline] is a flex mod on builds that utilize the Preparation strategy outline further in the Mods and Final Notes sections further below.

📏 Range 📏

Range is boosted to benefit a Death's Harvest and Embrace. Flex mods can be replaced to boost it further if you're trying to pull enemies in a very large room.

💪 Strength 💪

Strength is increased by a few mods to keep Death's Harvest competitive across more content. It also slightly increases the healing from Consume when needed. It can be increased further by replacing flex mods for Blind Rage or Augur Secrets but it probably isn't necessary.

↔️ Alternate Playstyles ↔️

Most builds utilize tools that can be swapped out to serve the same purpose albeit in a different manner. The following suggestions are an outline and aren't exhaustive.

🔧 Mods 🔧

  • Brief Respite is one of our only survival tools but it can be replaced if you're relying on Rolling Guard or Consume.
  • [Preparation] should be on every Shadow build as it gives you full energy every time you activate the Shadow. This is explained further in the Final Notes section below but for now just don't replace this mod.
  • Energy Conversion is a flex mod if you're not able to reliably proc the effect along with Death's Harvest.
  • Streamline is a flex mod on builds that rely on the Preparation synergy with the Shadow.
  • Vitality is a flex mod that can be replaced with Rolling Guard against high level enemies.
  • [Sevagoth] should use augments for his subsumed abilities if they're necessary. None of them can be equipped on the Shadow as of the initial writing of this guide.

⚙️ Arcanes ⚙️

Arcane Energize synergizes with [Primed Flow] and keeps your energy topped off. It can be replaced if you have other strong forms of energy recovery either through abilities or allied energy support frames. Offensive arcanes like Arcane Avenger or Arcane [Fury] are usually the call.

Arcane [Guardian] provides a large increase to your survivability when it procs. It can be replaced on builds that rely more on shield gating or scaling survival sources. Tertiary defensive arcanes like Arcane Aegis or Arcane Grace are usually the call.

📋 Final Notes 📋

[Preparation] instantly fills your entire energy bar every time you enter the Exalted Shadow. This synergizes with [Primed Flow] and the fact that there is no initial activation cost for Exalted Shadow. Arcane Energize has a separate cooldown when used on [Sevagoth] and his Shadow and the base frame benefits from the procs from the Shadow as he is still active while the Exalted Shadow is being used.

Consume from Exalted Shadow instantly kills most enemies while [Sevagoth] is bleeding out but it doesn't work against everything. Listing off every exception would significantly increase the size of this guide but the general rule is that the enemies that are known for being immune to abilities will also be immune to Consume.

Exalted Shadow doesn't carry over the buffs, arcanes, and set mods from the base [Sevagoth] loadout. Set mods are actually turned off completely while in Exalted Shadow. This is slightly alleviated by how easy it is to switch back and forth between the two forms. Any outliers are most likely not intended because they're extremely inconsistent with the very small minority of exceptions.
