Oberon Teralyst Hunter - F2P Friendly

NOTE - Actually uses less Endo, simply because the Umbra mods come pre-fused to Rank 5. If you choose not to rank the [Umbral Intensify] mod just yet (it'll be harder on you during the [Hunt] but it's still doable) it takes even less effort to get there.

So this build is geared towards a player looking to take on their first Teralyst as a Free to Play player. It needs no Forma at all, so no need to level your Frame more than once. You will need an Orokin Reactor though, but you can get one with Nightwave Cred, 20 of your new account Platinum, or any of a number of rewards, particularly the quest reward from the Stolen Dreams quest, which you'll have to complete anyway.

-GETTING OBERON-

To get [Oberon], you must... do Railjack! Specifically, Railjack missions that have objectives beyond "detonate everything that isn't you" otherwise known as a Point of Interest. Here's the mission list:

These Earth Proxima missions can reward his Systems Blueprint at a 10% drop rate:

  • Iota Temple
  • Korm's Belt
  • Bendar Cluster

Saturn Proxima missions can reward his Chassis Blueprint at the same drop rate, and all of them have at least one Point of Interest, so pick whichever you like.

Veil Proxima mission nodes reward his Neuroptics Blueprint, but only if they are Grineer nodes.

Grab the Blueprint for the frame itself from the Market and get building!

To get to all the nodes needed, you need to rack up affinity in Railjack missions and rank up your Intrinsics. One category needs to be Rank 7 to get to the Veil. If you need an introduction to Railjack, you have two options:

  • The long way; make your way through the Star Chart and do the Rising Tide quest, where you get your own Railjack.

  • The sensibly quick way; jump over to the YouTube action and search up the details about doing Railjack missions and then hit up the recruitment chat to hitch a ride to the Proxima.

  • The really quick and possibly nutty way; queue up for random squads after you finish the Archwing quest and learn on the fly, just make sure you understand that not everyone appreciates a random with no clue what to do.

-GETTING THE MODS-

You'll of course need all the mods. Here's where you can get them, just take note that Ghoul Purge Bounties show up every few weeks:

[Umbral Vitality], [Intensify], Fiber: All rewards from The Sacrifice quest. GET THAT STORY ACTION!!!
Hunter Adrenaline: Ghoul Purge low tier Bounties in Cetus - Stage 1 33% and Stages 2-3 11.74%
Augur Secrets: Tier 4 Cetus Bounties - Stage 4 2.08% and Stage 5 4.76%. Yeah sorry about that, but at least you're getting Ostron Standing!
Streamline: Tier 1 Cetus Bounties - Stage 2 7.52% and Stage 3 30.56%
Continuity: Lith, Earth (Defense) - Rotation C (every 20 waves offers this reward) 8.33% - again sorry about that but this mission gives pretty decent credits for early game upgrades while you grind for it. Extract every 20 waves and go back in to keep the enemy levels low and to keep getting mission credit rewards.
[Rifle Amp]: Nightwave Cred Offerings (might not be in the Cred Store at a given moment, just wait until it refreshes!)
[Smite Infusion]: Syndicates, either Steel Meridian or New Loka (more on this below)

A casual farming party or just jumping in with randoms usually works relatively well to get the mods. The bounties in Cetus do rotate every couple hours so if the mod you need isn't shown on the reward table, check back later. It'll come around. [Smite Infusion] is the hard one though. It'll take a while to get this one, just keep up with your advancement with your chosen Syndicate as you progress on the Star Chart and through your quests. You'll need to get maximum rank for the syndicate. Otherwise you might trade for it. Remember that the 50 Platinum you get on your new account cannot be traded, though. You should find it for cheap though. It isn't hard to get multiple copies for a player who has maxed the syndicate so don't let yourself get ripped off. Some extra cool people would even just give it away.

While this mod is great, not having [Smite Infusion] won't stop you from taking down our friend Terry. It'll put more pressure on your weapon build, but as you might have guessed, I've got one sorted that can actually get the job done without buffs of any kind. It'll just take longer. Check out the Tombfinger primary build I called Doomfinger (Mk. 1 or Mk. 2) and get ready to farm Solaris United standing.

-ALL TOGETHER NOW-

So you have all the goodies, now the question is... why?!! Why this build exactly? Well here we go!

[Oberon] brings you armor boosting, healing, status immunity for the Energy Spikes, and boosted damage that can even help your team if their weapons aren't capable of handling Terry ([Smite Infusion] works in a radius around you and buffs allies). It can be improved upon of course but the idea is here in base form: build Strength, some Duration and Efficiency, and grab those Umbral mods since they provide Tau Resistance to help you take the actually surprising damage from the Vomvalysts (they use Tau damage energy bolts).

As a final note, THIS BUILD IS NOT META. At all. But it'll function well enough to allow you to kill a Teralyst yourself, even in Solo. I've tested it with a weaker version of my Doomfinger and it functions nicely. Happy Teralyst hunting!
