Most optimized Desert Wind build (complete guide)

Introduction

Welcome to the most optimized [Desert Wind] build page.
I know it's a bit narcistic to say this but if you have a more optimized build feel free to share it in comment.

Before starting arguing about these or these mod, please read all this guide, I'll explain in detail how desert wind works because there are a lot of precision to understand in order to build it efficiently.

Rules

  • Desert wind deals 2 forms of damages:

    • Damages from direct hit (when your feet or fists touch an enemy).
    • Radial damages (energy waves sent by feet and fists on each hit).
  • Radial damages cannot proc [Condition Overload] this is extremely important because I see a lot of build like "yeah [Condition Overload] is op" stop this please.
Forum - CO on Baruuk wave

  • For most weapons, it's a really bad idea to use physical damage (slash / impact / puncture) because for example, a weapon with 200 slash damage and 100 puncture will gain a total of 120% damage (360) from maxed [Pressure Point] and only 80% (240) from a maxed [Buzz Kill]. But Because [Desert Wind] has 100% of his damage as impact, 120% damage gives the same total amount of damage than a 120% impact.
(that's why we have a Primed Heavy Impact)

  • Primed Reach doesn't work for waves neither so it's useless to add one.

  • Lastly, a lot of users go for a corrosive build on desert wind, and desert wind doesn't need it.
As you know, grineer (normal / corrupted) are among the best enemies in term of resistance. It's because they have a lot of armor, so people tend to go for a corrosive build because it has 75% increased damage against grineer Ferrite Armor but with [Reactive Storm] [Desert Wind] gain innate 250%*power strength elemental damage (bext against this enemy) so if you fight grineer with this mod, you'll have (with my [Baruuk] build) about 4 corrosive procs for each hit on this enemy. So we focus on damage reather than status procs.

Further informations

This build is the most optimized build for general use, you can boost damage output by replacing [Gladiator Might] by the Primed Smite of the faction you will face for the mission, this boost output damage from 95,5k to 108.4k.

You can boost damage with Arcane Strike, Arcane [Fury] and Blade Charger.
Personally I find Blade Charger really hard to manage because it only lasts for 12s and has only 30% chance to proc. If you need to pick only 1 arcane, go for Arcane [Fury].

[Desert Wind] can't increase melee combo, but it can benefits from it with 3 gladiator mods on a [Deconstructor](prime) from [Helios](prime). Then you can take any weapon (faster with a zaw with Arcane Triumph) and mod it for combo duration, and take Naramon school with Power Spike. You start mission by eroding and boosting combo to x12, and then you'll have 330% critical chance for a long time (lose 5 combo every 33s is the best without riven).

Finally, the best combo stance to use is the block attack without moving, the range and attack zone is really weird and extremely big

If you don't want to use an umbral forma, replace Sacrificial Pressure by Primed Pressure Point

Common questions

Why Primed Fever Strike and not a normal Viral / Heat build.

Because as said in the guide we don't need element to proc status, we use Primed Fever Strike here because it add 165% total damages, nothing more.

Thanks for reading my guide, if you find it useful / epic feel free to rate it and comment !
