Mags Coda Bassocyst

Coda Bassocyst — Magnetize DPS Max

This build is designed to make the most of Mag's Magnetize bubbles using a pure-status, Viral + Heat setup. Magnetize stores all damage applied to enemies inside the bubble and then detonates it as Magnetic damage. Because every pellet you fire can apply status effects that tick multiple times while the bubble is active, DoTs dominate the total stored damage. That’s why this build focuses on guaranteed status and strong DoTs — every pellet counts.

How it works

Each pellet contributes damage in two ways:

  1. The direct hit damage.
  2. The damage from status effect ticks (DoTs) while the bubble exists.

We can think of the expected damage per pellet like this:

stored damage per pellet = Base hit damage + (Status chance × Total DoT damage inside the bubble)

The clever part of this build is that it maximizes all three factors:

  • Base damage: boosted by Arcane Primary Merciless, so every pellet hits harder.
  • Status chance: Primed Chilling Grasp, Frigid Blast, and Toxic Barrage give nearly 100% chance for every pellet to apply a status.
  • DoT ticks: Viral (Cold + Toxin) and Heat ([Blaze] + [Scattering Inferno]) tick multiple times inside the bubble. The Heat mods come after the Cold mods to avoid accidentally creating Blast, so Viral stays intact.

Why the elemental setup matters

The valence is Toxin, which locks in Cold + Toxin = Viral. [Blaze] and [Scattering Inferno] add Heat ticks separately, stacking additional damage without overwriting Viral. This ensures every pellet reliably applies Viral + Heat, which is the mathematically optimal combination for stored damage inside Magnetize.

Multishot and spread

  • Galvanized Hell multiplies the number of pellets per shot, which directly multiplies the number of DoT ticks.
  • Vicious Spread widens the pellet spread to hit more enemies inside the bubble.
  • Exilus [Galvanized Acceleration] increases projectile speed, reducing missed pellets so nearly all contribute to stored damage.

Status scaling

[Galvanized Savvy] increases the effectiveness of DoTs, which increases the total damage stored per pellet. Combined with 100% status, multishot, and proper elemental pairing, this ensures every shot is as effective as possible.

How to play

  1. Cast Magnetize on a group of enemies.
  2. Fire the Bassocyst into the bubble to apply Viral + Heat DoTs.
  3. Wait a couple of seconds to let ticks accumulate.
  4. Detonate the bubble manually with [Magnetized Discharge] for maximum stored damage.
  5. Repeat, refreshing the bubble and DoTs for continuous high DPS.

Why it’s mathematically optimal

  • Every pellet is maximized: high status chance + strong DoTs = maximum contribution to stored damage.
  • Pellets are multiplied: multishot and spread mean more ticks hit per shot.
  • Tick uptime is maximized: proper mod order and projectile speed keep DoTs active inside the bubble.
  • Viral + Heat elemental pairing is guaranteed: no accidental Blast, so every tick counts toward stored damage.
  • Arcane Primary Merciless boosts base pellet damage: scaling both direct hit and stored DoT damage per pellet.

Put it all together, and this is the highest theoretical DPS setup for Magnetize using Bassocyst. It’s reliable, consistent, and fully exploits how stored damage is calculated.
