Ember: Fire Walker/Molt/Infested Mobility - Mobility

Ember Gameplay Guide

[Ember] utilizes Immolation's thermometer to give her abilities various offensive and defensive properties. This grants her damage reduction, armor stripping, and powerful heat procs to deal with various levels of difficult content. She struggles against enemies immune to heat but a balanced loadout can deal with that issue.

📝 Build Overview 📝

[Ember] is able to use Fire Walker in an arguably better way than [Nezha] due to her passive. This build focuses on that interaction but the ability stat spread can be used for other mobility boosting Helminth options.

🔢 Helminth Options 🔢

Fireball is usually replaced as it's the weakest ability in her kit without the augment. Inferno fills the role of generating heat for Immolation and Fire Blast is necessary for controlling your heat generation.

Fire Walker synergizes with her passive as it grants [Ember] additional ability Strength for every enemy that catches on fire and suffers heat procs. It isn't the strongest movement boosting ability but it has offensive and defensive capabilities.

Molt is stronger than other options but doesn't last for even a fraction of their duration. With an efficient energy economy it can be used to traverse quickly across the tilesets.

Infested Mobility is has the benefit of boosting parkour moves like bullet jumps. This grants you greater vertical movement at the cost of defensive options granted from other abilities.

Any buff can work in this setup as it's a variant of the Damage Buffs build. The primary focus on this build is abilities rather than weapons so elemental bonuses may have more uses than raw damage.

📊 Ability Stats 📊

Duration and Strength are the two primary stats for buff builds. Efficiency and Range take a backseat to give more greedy returns for your abilities.

Helminth Invigorations, Arbitration Buffs, Ally Abilities, Arcanes, and other external stat boosts can save you multiple mod slots but may rely on specific team compositions, loadouts, or sheer luck. Plan around these situations and modify your loadout to hit desired ability stat breakpoints.

⏲️ Duration ⏲️

Duration is boosted by the the strongest sources to let her spend more time attacking enemies and less time recasting her buffs. It also slightly helps her energy economy. [Narrow Minded] can be replaced to give more Range back to Fire Blast but it will nearly halve the total duration of her abilities.

⛽ Efficiency ⛽

Efficiency is lowered by [Blind Rage] but [Streamline] is used to keep the energy economy in check. [Streamline] is a flex mod if you're able to use other forms of energy regeneration. Blind Rage could be replaced for Transient Fortitude but it shouldn't be necessary.

📏 Range 📏

Range is lowered by [Narrow Minded] and her buffs are more selfish than they are helpful to her team. [Narrow Minded] can be replaced to get more Range back but adding additional Range past that point shouldn't be necessary. Fire Walker and Pyroclastic Flow don't scale from Range so the primary source of damage from the build shouldn't be affected as well.

💪 Strength 💪

Strength is increased to benefit her buffs and Immolation's base damage reduction. Primed Continuity can be replaced by Transient Fortitude but your energy economy may suffer.

↔️ Alternate Playstyles ↔️

Most builds utilize tools that can be swapped out to serve the same purpose albeit in a different manner. The following suggestions are an outline and aren't exhaustive.

🔧 Mods 🔧

  • [Growing Power] is easy to use on a frame focused on status procs. The Strength may be a bit redundant in some build variants so it can be replaced with anything as you see fit.
  • [Power Drift] gives a bit of Strength and some minor defensive synergy from the knockdown resistance. Primed Sure Footed is stronger but requires a different polarity plan.
  • [Streamline] and [Narrow Minded] are flex mods depending on the cost of your subsumed ability and your Range needs to strip armor. Replace them with additional survivability or a middle ground of Duration through Augur Message or Constitution.
  • [Rolling Guard] should provide plenty of survivability in all content. It can be replaced against lower level enemies but this build is usually overkill in those situations anyway.
  • [Pyroclastic Flow] allows Fire Walker to do a large chunk of damage against problem enemies. Her passive and the high Strength investment should allow it to scale to most content through the Steel Path star chart. Other augments can be used in content where heat procs aren't feasible sources of damage.

⚙️ Arcanes ⚙️

Arcane Energize synergizes with [Primed Flow] and keeps your energy topped off. It can be replaced if you have other strong forms of energy recovery either through abilities or other energy support frames. Offensive arcanes like Arcane Avenger or Arcane [Fury] are usually the call.

Arcane Strike provides more damage per second to a meta that heavily focuses on melee weapons. It can be replaced on builds that focus on Primary or Secondary weapons instead. Tertiary offensive arcane like Arcane Rage or Arcane Precision are usually the call.

📋 Final Notes 📋

Immolation's heat thermometer requires diligent maintenance for maximum efficiency. Inferno gives free heat generation when used with no targets on the screen but this can cause the meter to build too quickly and force you to spam Fire Blast. On setups that favor spamming Inferno you may need to reset Immolation periodically as the heat generation is higher than your Fire Blast casting speed.

Fire Blast and Immolation don't require more than the baseline Strength to properly do their maximum effects. However this requires you to spend more time generating heat which can have counter intuitive synergy with builds that completely focus on weapons rather than abilities. Her passive can get free Strength from nearby enemies taking Ignite damage but this becomes inconsistent if they die before you cast an ability.

In a cruel sense of irony, [Ember] can actually lower the damage from heat procs (Ignite) done by your allies. Ignite damage is scaled by the faction damage and heat mods from both the original heat proc and additional heat procs that add to the duration. [Ember] can't natively use Heat or faction mods on her abilities so this will cause all further heat procs from meta weapons to do a fraction of their Ignite damage. Roar partially alleviates this problem but be mindful of this issue when using Ember against high level enemies that are weak to Heat as you can become a massive detriment to your allies.
