Chroma: Empower/Nourish/Dispensary - Arbitration Defense

Chroma Gameplay Guide

[Chroma] is a hybrid tank with balanced offensive and defensive options across a large array of content. None of his buffs are the strongest in their respective categories but his element rotation system allows him to utilize a larger array of buffs in comparison to most other frames.

📝 Build Overview 📝

Arbitration Defense missions are the most efficient way to farm Vitus Essence and this build works with a team to complete those missions as fast as possible.

🔢 Helminth Options 🔢

Spectral Scream is replaced because it has marginal impact on his kit even after the buffs. Most builds only want a single element and changing it mid mission doesn't come up enough to warrant using the ability in most scenarios. Effigy can be replaced if you're not planning on using the increased credit bonuses.

Empower is the greedy default choice to squeeze out even more ability Strength. It isn't necessary but has the most generalized use across other ability choices.

Nourish provides healing and some additional damage but may change the elements on your weapons depending on the order of your mods.

Dispensary gives a steady source of health, ammo, and energy which the entire team can use to their benefit. Duration may need to be increased to make it feel more convenient.

Other buffs and quality of life abilities are usable but the cost of each ability along with the passive nature of the strategy makes them feel inconsequential.

📊 Ability Stats 📊

Strength and Range are the most important stats on this build. Efficiency and Duration make the energy economy sketchy but the team should be able to cover it.

⏲️ Duration ⏲️

Duration is a bit above the baseline as the build doesn't have much room to increase it further. [Narrow Minded] can be run over a flex mod if your team is okay with tighter grouping. [Augur Message] or [Constitution] instead of a Range mod is a similar option but due to the polarity plan it might not be possible to fit the mods into the build.

⛽ Efficiency ⛽

Efficiency is lowered by [Blind Rage] and we don't increase it back with other mods. Streamline can be slotted over a flex mod but the team should have multiple energy sources to make that unnecessary.

📏 Range 📏

Range is increased so that teammates can more easily stay within range of your buffs. It can be decreased if your team has more coordinated positioning.

💪 Strength 💪

Strength is increased high enough for Vex Armor to give a moderate boost to allies. Lowering it any further isn't advised.

↔️ Alternate Playstyles ↔️

Most builds utilize tools that can be swapped out to serve the same purpose albeit in a different manner. The following suggestions are an outline and aren't exhaustive.

🔧 Mods 🔧

  • Enemy Radar allows you and your allies to know whether you've killed all of the enemies at a specific spawn.
  • [Primed Flow] provides a decent energy pool to recast Vex Armor when in a pinch. It can be replaced if you're relying entirely on energy regeneration.
  • Rolling Guard is necessary to survive vagrant high level enemy attacks while collecting dropped resources.
  • Everlasting Ward can be used if your team is on much larger maps and needs to split up to cover all spawns.

⚙️ Arcanes ⚙️

Arcane Energize keeps your energy topped off between waves. It can be replaced if you're relying entirely on energy regeneration. Defensive arcanes like Arcane Aegis or quality of life arcanes like Arcane Consequence are usually the call.

Arcane Agility grants an emergency movement bonus if you're caught by a high level enemy in between waves. It can be replaced if you're only gathering items with Operator mode. Tertiary defensive arcanes like Arcane Deflection or Arcane Resistance are usually the call.

📋 Final Notes 📋

Elemental Ward has wildly varied usage depending on what element is chosen. Heat gives the best survivability bonus when combined with Vex Armor. Cold reflects enemy area of effects attacks which can significantly limit their damage. Toxin provides a great holster and reload speed bonus on low Strength builds. Electricity is better on frames that have massive shield pools and shield regeneration.

Spectral Scream isn't necessary to select elements. You primary emission color will also change what element you start the mission using. Listing off every single color and their elements isn't a reasonable option for this guide but you can tell which element you'll get when you go to the color customization screen.

This build may make certain assumptions about mechanics that can change after a patch. Multiple unnecessary forma may be used to facilitate more options across multiple builds with one polarity plan. Certain sub-optimal mods may be run to fit them into the forma polarity plan. We do not make builds that purposely attempt to abuse mechanics that aren't intended by the developers.
