Banshee: Pull/Fire Blast/Empower - Resonating Quake

Banshee Gameplay Guide

[Banshee] has a varied toolkit capable of multiplying damage, crowd controlling enemies, and nuking entire rooms. She also has some mild stealth capability through her sound manipulation but it's best used as a supportive survivability tool rather than a replacement for invisibility.

📝 Build Overview 📝

Sound Quake is usually a far more expensive ability than it's worth but the [Resonating Quake] augment can nuke entire tilesets of low level enemies. This build combines it with a subsumed ability that can nuke very low level enemies for less energy or mid level enemies for more energy.

🔢 Helminth Options 🔢

Sonic Boom is fairly weak without the [Sonic Fracture] augment and due to the Helminth system it can replaced by abilities that provide more flexible armor stripping options anyway.

Pull grants access to free energy orbs and lazy item acquisition through [Greedy Pull]. The augment isn't run on the build by default due to line of sight restrictions that make it inconsistent on many tilesets. Remember to slot it back in when running this build in large open areas.

Fire Blast strips enough armor for [Resonating Quake] to deal with mid level Grineer. It doesn't have as much range and your energy economy can suffer but there aren't many competitive armor stripping options when using low Duration.

Empower can be used for a bit more damage but it significantly increases the total cost of [Resonating Quake]. On lower Strength builds the diminishing returns are less harsh and this ability can be more viable.

Roar, Pillage, and other abilities that scale off of Duration aren't great options in this build due to the stat spread. They require a higher Duration investment for middling returns.

📊 Ability Stats 📊

Range and Strength are the primary focus in this build so that [Resonating Quake] hits harder and from further away. Duration is the dump stat as it doesn't benefit the augment.

Helminth Invigorations, Arbitration Buffs, Ally Abilities, Arcanes, and other external stat boosts can save you multiple mod slots but may rely on specific team compositions, loadouts, or sheer luck. Plan around these situations and modify your loadout to hit desired ability stat breakpoints.

⏲️ Duration ⏲️

Duration is useless. This build is looking to counter low level enemies and wasting time spamming Sonar or Silence will just make the missions go slower. [Fleeting Expertise] and [Transient Fortitude] can be replaced with Streamline and Blind Rage on builds that utilize subsumed abilities that scale with Duration.

⛽ Efficiency ⛽

Efficiency can be increased with [Streamline] or [Primed Flow] over a flex slot for a better energy economy. Energy orbs from Pull should be sufficient in keeping your energy bar above board but this isn't feasible on some tilesets. Fleeting Expertise should only be dropped on builds focusing on subsumed abilities that need Duration.

📏 Range 📏

Range is the most important stat for [Resonating Quake]. It allows you to hit enemies from further away and increases the damage to closer enemies due to the damage falloff build into the augment. Augur Reach is a flex mod on smaller tilesets.

💪 Strength 💪

Strength is boosted high enough to instantly kill enemies on the first few planets in the star chart. Flex mods can be replaced with more Strength through mods like [Augur Secrets] but lowering Strength isn't advised as the build already struggles to instantly kill some enemies at the 90 meter max range of Resonating Quake.

↔️ Alternate Playstyles ↔️

Most builds utilize tools that can be swapped out to serve the same purpose albeit in a different manner. The following suggestions are an outline and aren't exhaustive.

🔧 Mods 🔧

  • [Brief Respite] is a powerful survival tool on a frame that constantly spams abilities. In this case we use Sonar so many times that you should be constantly getting shields back and a Decaying Dragon Key only accentuates this interaction. Other auras can be run at your discretion on easier content.
  • [Cunning Drift] and [Power Drift] are interchangeable with how Resonating Quake calculates damage. Cunning Drift has a slight edge as it also increases your maximum range.
  • Augur Reach and Fleeting Expertise are flex mods depending on what mission you're nuking and what ability you choose to subsume.
  • [Natural Talent] could increase the number of casts per second but enemies are kept on the very edge of Resonating Quake and will most likely survive multiple additional casts due to damage falloff.
  • Survivability mods become redundant on a build focused on nuking low level enemies. Only bring one form of survivability for emergencies.
  • [Resonating Quake] is necessary for the build to function. Sound Quake costs far too much energy and takes too long to hit the kind of range that you'll need to nuke tilesets without the augment or heavy ally frame support.

⚙️ Arcanes ⚙️

Arcane Energize pairs well with [Primed Flow] and allows you to be extremely greedy with your ability casts. It can be replaced if you're confident with your energy economy or you're playing with an ally Warframe that provides energy. This build utilizes abilities to kill enemies so defensive arcanes like Arcane [Guardian] are usually the call.

Arcane Aegis synergizes with shield gating to make you nearly invincible. It can be replaced if you're using multiple other forms of survivability. Tertiary defensive arcanes like Arcane Resistance provide the best benefits.

📋 Final Notes 📋

Sonar doesn't increase the damage of secondary effects like Slash procs or Toxin procs so the damage potential can be limited against some enemies. Spamming it enough times will eventually allow you outpace any enemy damage resistance scaling but at any point DE could change the secondary damage resistance formula to scale properly with damage buffs similar to Sonar.

Silence is a redundant stealth ability due to [Banshee]'s passive. After it was added as a Helminth ability many builds that use Silence are now better on other frames. If you're confused why a specific Silence interaction isn't being used it's most likely because the build has been moved to another frame that uses it better. Loadout slots are limited and putting the exact same gimmick build on multiple frames isn't suggested unless there's a good reason to run that frame instead such as Arbitration buffs or utilizing a specific ability interaction.
