Gyre’s signature weapon has two fire modes. Primary fire shocks enemies with electrical orbs. Alternate fire is a large ball of electricity that sticks to any surface and pulses ⚡Electricity before it explodes. In Gyre's hands, the weapon has a small amount of multishot.

FIRE MODE
The [Alternox] relies heavily on dot to make itself viable in the Steel Path. It's headshot multiplier is 1x, which means that headshots and body shots will do the exact same amount of damage. You will want to focus on getting stacks before the weapon starts doing meaningful amounts of damage to tankier enemies.
It has unlimited punch through so [Primed Shred] isn't needed and you can instead use [Vile Acceleration].
The Alt fire is useless, unaffected by multishot, and has huge damage drop off from the center of the aoe.
[Hunter Munitions] and critical mods are better than a full status build on this weapon(It does have a 2.2x critical multiplier, which is nice). It's impossible to built viral + heat anyways since the weapon has innate electricity.
This is all unfortunate because the weapon is very cool and interesting, but unfortunately it gets too many things wrong to be as viable as most other weapons in the game.
