By no means essential to the build, so don't worry about keeping the Kubrow alive. Can be almost any Kubrow you want, I prefer Chesa as the disarm has proven to be surprisingly good CC despite being single target.
Supplemental damage and energy [Regen], just let the dog do it's thing while focusing on your own game plan.
