Each strike of this infested glaive infects its target with viral pathogens. Occasionally, it discharges the spores of rabid, enemy-seeking maggots, either in-flight or on contact with the enemy.

Pathocyst - Volatile Strain

Part of the Nidus Swarm Lord build. A fun feature of the [Pathocyst] is that it can produces Maggots after hitting an enemy, a small form of crowd control that helps keep you safe. This build uses that feature as well as the newest [Glaive] mods to maximise its damage and usefulness to the build.

The way to fight is simple: Dual wield a secondary weapon to quickly apply viral stacks and maybe a heat proc before throwing your [Glaive]. It will detonate instantly and you can quickly perform a heavy attack to explode again. This deals a massive amount of damage to a wide area very quickly, and dual wielding allows you to auto-block your own stagger. This then activates the mod Power Throw, doubling all further damage.

Mod Break Down:

  • [Volatile Quick Return]: allows you to get an extra 50% damage on your heavy attacks essentialy and increases the detonation range substantially.
  • Power Throw: an easy way to double your damage as "throw damage" stacks seperately from melee and elemental damage
  • Sacrificial Steel: Helps us get 97.5% critical chance on our heavy attacks, meaning we will rarely not have a critical hit.
  • Sacrificial Pressure: picked over primed pressure point because the consistency it offers with the higher critical hit chance is important.
  • [Power Throw]: Allows you to have double damage while spamming heavy attacks. Might need to run with Zenurik focus as the mod doesn't quite refill your combo counter fast enough.
  • [Amalgam Organ Shatter]: the 5% critical damage is easily made up for by the heavy attack speed boost, as this helps speed up your throw charge time.
  • [Primed Fever Strike]: chosen over [Killing Blow] as the extra melee damage and wind up speed doesn't quite balance for Fever Strikes raw damage multiplier.

With this Nidus build, if you attatch to an ally (such as your Helminth Charger) using your 3-Parasitic Link you deal 1,704,506 damage between the [Volatile Quick Return] explosion and heavy attack explosion.
