Mecha Ash | Bladestorm Ash

Is This Build For You

This build is a very companion reliant build that doesn't heavily focus on single target damage and instead opts for group clearing with DoTs. This is a much more relaxed way of playing [Ash], but it takes a bit longer to kill focused targets compared to a [Seeking Shuriken] build. If you don't like having to revive a companion constantly this build might not be for you.

Gameplay

This build has a very simple gameplay loop of keeping enemies debuffed with a magnetic base viral electric [Kuva Nukor], marking them with Bladestorm(4) and killing whatever lives with the [Venka Prime] and more Bladestorm marks.
This plays out pretty consistently as levels progress, and the only difficult part of the build is really assembling all the gear before the mission.

The Gear

•A shotgun equipped with Amalgum Shotgun Spazz, preferably a [Arca Plasmor], [Phantasma] or [Kuva Kohm]
•A Magnetic base Kuva Nukor built as a CO statstick (viral + heat/electricity)
•The [Venka Prime] built for CO Toxin to deal with heavily shielded enemies and boost the combo cap
•The [Chesa Kubrow] with the last few Mecha set mods

How it Works

This isn't something I'd usually explain in a build, but Bladestorm is a weird ability with odd ways of increasing it's damage.
Bladestorm gets more damage the higher your combo multiplier gets, so an effect that increases the cap like the [Venka] Primes passive boosts its damage output.
Bladestorm pulls damage from melee damage boosters like [Steel Charge] and Arcane [Fury], but not general weapon damage boosters like Arcane Arachne and [Vigorous Swap]
Bladestorm DOES NOT care about the mods on your melee weapon. The only mods that affect it are ones that boost combo gain, and combo duration
[Mecha Empowered] functions similarly to faction damage as it also boosts status damage, this results in the damage of Bladestorm being HEAVILY increased by Mecha Empowered, this results in some very over-inflated numbers followed by a nuke effect

Mod Alternatives

  • If you want to opt for putting combo gain/sustain effects on your melee weapon you can opt in for more strength with Transient Fortitude taking Rising Storm out
-- I wouldn't suggest taking out [Rolling Guard] as DoT's at very high levels will still get you even with shield gating if you aren't spam refreshing it, but if you want to you can swap it out for Transient Fortitude as well
  • Blind Rage + Streamline can work over Rolling Guard + Rising Storm

NOTES

  • I generally don't have that much strength at base because it's unnecessary for this setup, Viral debuffs and the Mech set do more then enough as is
•This build IS NOT focused around buff interactions or group play, there are more optimized ways of using Bladestorm in a group if you want to go about things that way
•This build can function as a [Nekros] alternative due to it using the [Chesa Kubrow] to get the set effect, and while it does work well for this it isn't as effective for resource farming just life support sustain
A youtube video sorta explaining the same thing as this post
•The idea of the build started with [Loki] originally, and since the status changes I've thought on what other frames this would work on besides it. While this is the first one, [Wisp] might be another frame you can do this on and instead of using Bladestorm she'd use the [Kronen Prime] like the original [Loki] build did
