Alternate fire on this reengineered Plinx fires a projectile that pulls enemies close and then explodes. Its cooldown increases after the explosion to accommodate battery power demands.

Heat Tenet Plinx - Heat Inherit Primer (explained/guide/tutorial)

I saw another "Heat Inherit" build that missed the most important mod and didn't explain the build at all so heres one that does.

Formula Glossary
s = secondary's stat
p = primary's stat

Heat Inherit Misconceptions

A lot of people think Heat Inherit is just "Apply lots of stacks of heat and each new stack applied refreshes the old ones.". This is only a component of Heat Inherit and will suffice for most things in non-endless SP and with a good weapon e.g. [Phantasma], I've been able to get to SP lvl ~250 Kappa Disruption pretty easily. No primer, just Phantasma and an external firerate buff(gauss)

If you do just this, the damage formula for the heat procs is:

Base Damage(p) * ( 1 + 2.1(p) + .55) = Base(p) * 3.65

(2.1 is the total possible heat of a shotty, and just 150 if you used a rifle.)

How Heat Inherit actually works

Actual Heat Inherit is a bit more involved but the damage is orders of magnitude higher and instead of slowing down at SP 250 will let you kill in the thousands of levels. Level cap with other synergies.

The TL;DR; is Heat Inherit is called Heat Inherit because the DPS weapon inherits the Heat% mods and the Bane% Mods of the Primer weapon. (this also works for Electric Inherit)

The process:

If you apply the first Heat stack with a 225% Heat ([Primed Heated Charge] and [Scorch]) and 55% Faction Primer Weapon and continue applying more procs with a 55% Faction Stacker Weapon.
Heat stacks will use the base damage of the Stacker weapon, 225% Heat and 55% Faction from the Primer Weapon and multiply everything by the Stacker Weapons's 55% Faction. Which results in this new formula:

Base Damage(p) * (1 + 2.25 + .55 + .6)(s) * 1.55(p) = Base(p) * 6.82

This means each proc with this setup is doing 3.17x more damage by using the [Plinx] for the first proc.

> .6 is the 60% progenitor bonus, without it the multiplier is just 5.89 and so 2.24x more damage.

According to u/Tyzon27 on reddit the Progenitor Bonus does not affect the final HI damage, so this is the final formula:

Base Damage(p) * (1 + 2.25 + .55)(s) * 1.55(p) = Base(p) * 5.89

Which is 2.24x more damage when using a primer with proper bane mods.

I hope this Helps.

Notes

  • Idk if overframe has pings / email notfs whatever. If theres something wrong with this explanation, feel free to dm me metruzanca#1053 or u/metruzanca
  • The only thing I'm unsure of is how the Primer weapon's base heat fits into the formula, if at all. It might just be for the status priority.
  • The [Plinx]'s alt fire has a status chance of 48% with this build. (sadly not shown in the stats for some reason) Higher base damage here doesn't matter in the formula as Plinx is the Primer not Stacker weapon.
  • The crit mods are not required for HI to work and actually don't play a role at all. They're just here to make the gun usable otherwise.
  • The best Heat Inherit primers are secondaries since they have a primed heat mod, but you can do it the other way around if you like just know you'll have less damage. This wont matter unless you're pushing seriously high levels.
  • For HI [Plinx] rivens: Faction damage, Heat, Status Chance.
