Infinite Red Crits Voruna

Update 34.0

  • Added Catalyzing Shields and removed Augur Reach
  • Added Blind Rage for more strength
  • Added Wrathful Advance as our Helminth of choice

Introduction

[Voruna] is an amazing and very versatile Frame.
This build is intented to be taken everywhere, in every type of missions.
Anyway, I added some variants that you can find in the "Build Variations" section, at the end.

Gameplay:

Attack

Activate her 3, Lycath's Hunt, to gain health orbs on kill and proc your Equilibrium for infinite energy. Killing enemies with at least 5 status effects will increase its duration for a maximum uptime of 59 seconds.
Go invisible with Shroud of Dynar, choose a target and use Fangs of Raksh to apply status effects. Killing it will spread its status effects to all targets in a 17.5m radius with this build.
Alternate between her 4th ability, Ulfrun's Descent and your melee of choice and have fun slaying everything around you.
Ulfrun's Descent is awesome on Acolites as they have a limited number of procs. A single slash proc from this ability will badly hurt them.

Defense

We'll use shield gating as our main defense layer.
If your shield breaks while being invisible, just Rolling Guard and go invisible with her 1.
Sometime, attack is the better defense. So if your shield break while being invisible, use your 2 on an enemy to replenish your shield.

Archon Shards and mods:

To counteract the negative strength introduced by Overextended, I'm using 3 Crimson Archon Shard for an additive 30% power strength and start the mission with 104%. You don't want to go negative power strength as it will ruin the critical damage buff of your first ability (note that you can find alternatives of this build which are more focused on power strength in the "Build Variations" section).
As we can't slot Natural Talent, use 2 Amber Archon Shard to increase casting speed.
Archon Stretch is here because her second ability can proc the electric status effect, triggering the additional effect of this mod. However, this is not mandatory, you can use the original Stretch as her third ability is enough for sustaining this build.

Passives:

We'll use [Voruna] second passive for status immunity as we won't use Prime Sure Footed in favor of Preparation to start the mission at full energy.
If you plan to use a melee build focused on Heavy Attack, please refer to the "Build Variations" section.

Shield gating:

In addition to Brief Respite and Augur Secrets, use Augur Pact and Augur Seeker on your Secondary and you'll be able to replenish your shield with her 1.
Simply equip a Dragon Key and you'll be ready to go.

Companion:

Use your companion of choice with Synth Fiber equipped to collect health orb even at max health. Panzer Vulpaphyla is the best choice as he can spread viral.

Arcanes:

With Molt augmented at max stacked, [Voruna] will have 164% power strength for an additive crit multiplier of 3.28x.
The second slot is free, I choose Arcane Blessing as it's new and synergizes pretty will with her 3rd ability. and will give [Voruna] 1650 HP without even modding for it.
For high level content, Arcane Strike is a better option as it will increase your attack speed by 60%.

Focus Schools:

Madurai

We'll use Sling Sing for an additive 40% power strength (for a total of 204% power strength).
Power transfer will increase our casting speed by 50% for a total of 100% with our Archon shards.

Naramon

If you struggle to maintaining up your combo conter, use Naramon for its Power Strike node.

Build Variations

Variation #1 (Heavy Attack)

If you plan to use Heavy Attack builds with Voruna, you want her 3rd passive to be active at all time. In that case, just replace Preparation by Prime Sure Footed to prevent you from knock down.

Variation #2 ([Blind Rage])

It turned out that building [Voruna] at base duration and low efficiency is absolutely viable for Survival missions. BTW you can opt to replace Primed Continuity by Blind Rage to put Voruna on steroids.

Variation #3 (Maxed Strength)

(based on Variation #2)
To increase your Power Strength even more at the cost of losing range, you can replace [Overextended] by [Umbral Intensify].
However this is not how I enjoyed playing with her. I think that [Voruna] benefits more from range than Power Strength. In that case, the base build or variation #2 should be considered as better options, depending on mission types.
Beware that it will cause capacity issue on your Warframe so in that case, a rank 9 [Preparation] is enough to start the mission at full energy.

Helminth

Depending on your playstile, Roar could be a great ability in place of her 4th.

Update 1:

Voruna 4th has been buffed!!! So you better of using Voruna without any Helminth abilities.
Buff Details:

  • Added 20% Critical Chance and 1.5x Critical Damage.
  • Every kill increases Critical Chance by 5% and Critical Damage by 0.5x.
  • Shroud of Dynar’s Critical Damage buffs also now apply to Ulfrun’s Descent.
