Range mods affect literally nothing for Hound weapons

Maximum versatility, Slash + Puncture + Radiation for maximum coverage, outside of bosses

Healing Return isn't necessary as Hounds are very limited in their mod pool, just give yours the Medi-Kit mod or use [Pack Leader]
