Do not necessarily seek status, seek damage!
Your sentinel will be able here to kill in 3 seconds top times a griner lvl 75, and will be very useful for low lvl missions (just run, it kills everything for you)

The choice of viral is not trivial:
Even with a 4% chance of status, it does quite often (big rate of fire) and the "new" viral increases the the damage done to the enemy.
This makes this proc suitable for all situations, much more than the corrosive which, in any case, would be too weak to have a visible effect.
