Budget Wisp | Step By Step Guide For New Players

INTRODUCTION

Congratulations! You've farmed The Ropalolyst an ungodly amount of times and acquired what many would consider the strongest frame in the game! But now that Mommy- I mean Wisp - is yours, how should you build her? Well, above is a starter build intended to be used immediately after leveling her and installing an Orokin Catalyst. This is only a primer, however. Intended solely when considering what mods are most likely owned by newer players, and without the use of any Forma.

At the bottom of the page will be a link to the completed [Wisp] build. I must advise that if you want to push the build to the absolute limits of what is possible, it will take alot of time and investment. However, [Wisp] is so powerful that you can stop whenever and she will still be very good.

Please read the entire guide before beginning. There are certain things in this guide that can be done in the background while other mods and such are being assembled. Namely, Focus School farm, Umbra Forma farm, and [Primed Continuity] from Baro Ki'teer.

CONSTRUCTION

1a.) [Blind Rage]

To obtain [Blind Rage], and the next mod, [Transient Fortitude], you will need to farm Orokin Derelict Vaults on Deimos. These are special doors that randomly spawn on the Deimos tileset that require 1 of 4 Dragon Keys equipped to open then. To get these Dragon Keys, you'll need to be in a Clan and buy the blueprints from your Dojo. Build multiple of all 4, equip all 4, then go to the mission Horend on Deimos. Use [Wisp]'s passive for invisibility with the Haste buff to capture the target and search for the Vault. This will take alot of time and some good luck, but these mods are pretty universally used amongst Frames and will be well worth your time investment.

Expend a Forma for a Madurai Polarity and replace [Augur Reach].

Forma Count: +1
Ability Strength: +99%

1b.) [Transient Fortitude]

Repeat the process above. Farming at it's finest.

Expend a Forma for a Madurai Polarity and replace [Flow].

Forma Count: +1
Ability Strength: +55%

2.) The Helminth

[Wisp]'s 4th ability, Sol Gate, is abysmal. The damage it deals is less than Breach Surge, costs more energy, and doesn't fulfill the role [Wisp] wants to play. We are going to subsume it away.

To do so, you will need to farm the Entrati, at the Necralisk, to Rank 3 - Associate, and be at Mastery Rank 8. From there, purchase the Helminth Segment from Son for 15,000 Standing.

Once installed, I highly recommend farming for [Rhino]. The next best option is [Chroma]. These will grant [Wisp] Roar and Elemental Ward, respectively. Bring your Frame of choice to the Helminth, feed your Helminth the necessary materials, and subsume. You will lose the equipped Frame permanently.

Bring your [Wisp] to the Helminth and replace Sol Gate. Go ahead and select it to only replace 1 or 2 Configurations. This is so later on if you want to experiment you can subsume other options in the empty Configurations.

Note that if you choose to go with [Chroma], you'll want to change your Emissive color, found under the Appearance tab for your Frame at your Arsenal, to green. This will grant you Toxin damage as well as faster reload speed, something [Wisp] enjoys alot due to emptying clips so fast with the Haste buff.

You could stop here and have a great [Wisp] that your team will love. But let's go even further beyond, shall we?

3a.) [Energy Conversion] & [Energy Generator]

Here's where the true grind starts. To obtain [Energy Conversion] and [Energy Generator], you will need to farm 100,000 Standing each with Cephalon Simaris. Every day, go to him and find your targets. Look up online where each frequently spawn, scan them, and go back to Cephalon Simaris. To get your remaining Standing, purchase his Scanner expendables from the back, and head to a Steel Path mission. Now use all 3 of your Motes and scan enemies with his Scanner while they are shocked. Go to your limit every day.

Expend a Forma for a Madurai Polarity and replace [Hunter Adrenaline].

Forma Count: +1
Ability Strength: +50%

3b.) [Dethcube]

[Energy Generator] requires the use of [Dethcube], or its Primed variant. For the original, you can simply buy its blueprint off the Market for 100,000 credits. If you want to use [Dethcube Prime], you will need to farm the proper Relics, or buy the blueprints off the secondary market for Platinum.

Ensure that your [Dethcube]'s weapon is set to deal as much damage as possible. This will assist in the Energy Orb production.

4.) Zenurik & Madurai Focus School

Now that Hunter Adrenaline is gone, we'll want to maximize our new found energy production. Equip 1 or more Zenurik lens to your Frame and/or weapons and start leveling the school. The abilities we are interested in are Energy Pulse, for extra energy on Energy Orb pick ups, and Energizing Dash, for on the spot energy production.

Also apply a Madurai lens to either your Frame and/or other weapons. Essentially, Zenurik is going to be our early and mid game option, with Madurai as our late game option. The energy production is crucial early on, but once we acquire our late game options, we lose the need for it. Alongside this, Madurai grants us increased casting speed, an insane temporary boss DPS multiplier, and an additional 20% Ability Strength over Zenurik.

Ability Strength: +20% or +40%

5.) Aura Forma & Endo Farm

For this, you'll want to look at doing Arbitrations. Aura Formas and plentiful Endo drop here. We'll need the Aura Forma to swap to [Growing Power] in the next step. You could use a regular Forma and apply the Madurai Polarity to your Aura slot, but this is preferable in terms of flexibility and you'll need the Endo regardless. You will need alot of Endo for some upcoming mods, so get comfortable.

6.) [Growing Power]

This can be pretty tedious to acquire. First, you'll need to have completed The Silver Grove Quest. From here, you'll need to continually farm Nightfall Apothics and kill the Knave Specter until it drops.

Expend the newly acquired Aura Forma.

Aura Forma Count: +1
Ability Strength: +25%

7.) [Verglas]

Not only is [Verglas] the strongest Sentinel weapon in the game, but it can [Reach] max status chance. This means we can make our new [Growing Power] Aura a passive.

To acquire [Verglas], you'll have to farm many Railjack missions. I recommend looking up the Nautilus parts drop chances on the Wiki.

Once built, use 60/60 Status/Elemental mods, like [Thermite Rounds], to build a Viral+Heat [Verglas]. Add in multishot and it will melt. A link to my build is at the bottom of the page.

8.) Molt [Vigor]

To clarify this Arcane, it gives you 45% Ability Strength to your next Warframe Ability after using an Operator Ability. This can be acquired from Cavalero at Chrysalith, Zariman. Farm Voidplumes every day and sell then to Yonda for standing.

Ability Strength: +45%

9.) [Power Drain]

And we're back to Railjack. Because the mod doesn't say, I'll clarify this one as well. Mercy kills on Eximus units trigger this. The buff lasts indefinitely until you use an ability. Just like [Energy Conversion]. Use Impact weapons to increase the Mercy threshold and make your life easier.

If you're not using Fused Resovoir, remember, like [Energy Conversion], you will need to get a Mercy kill for both your [Vitality] and Haste Motes to [Reach] max.

[Power Drain] drops from Rotation A in any Corpus Railjack Spy mission.

Ability Strength: +50%

10.) Pax Bolt(s)

This is the third longest aspect to the grind. I do strongly recommend incorporating at least a single Pax Bolt into the build. Not only to increase Ability Strength by 30%, but to [Recuperate] Ability Efficiency by 30% as well. The second Pax Bolt is for the diehards like myself who love a good challenge.

To acquire Pax Bolt, as well as everything to build a Kitgun, you'll need to reach Rank 5 - Old Mate with Solaris United. This will take quite some time.

As for what Kitgun(s) to build, I recommend a secondary [Sporelacer] and a Primary [Catchmoon]. The links for these will also be at the bottom of the page.

Ability Strength: +30% or +60%
Ability Efficiency: +30% or +60%

11.) [Nidus] & Vapor Specter Farm

To acquire [Nidus], you will need to complete The Glass Gambit quest, as well as farm his blueprint parts from Infested Salvage Rotation C on Oestrus, Eris.

Farming for Vapor Specters is the easiest step on this guide that can also be combined with Prime parts farming for quick Platinum. To do so, go solo and run Rescue Void Relic missions. Trigger the alarms and don't kill any Wardens. You will receive a x10 Vapor Specter blueprint. Equip [Nidus] with a good primary and craft them in your Foundry.

Place the crafted Vapor Specter in your Gear Wheel and summon [Nidus] when you plan on sitting in one mission for awhile. This step is unnecessary if you're not doing endless missions like Defense or Survival.

Ability Strength: x1.28%

12.) [Primed Continuity]

The Primed variant of [Continuity] is sold by Baro Ki'teer randomly, every other weekend. Once Baro arrives, check his inventory. If he has it, farm up sellable Prime parts, sell them for Ducats, and buy it. Alternatively, you could farm for Prime parts and sell them on the market to buy a [Primed Continuity]. I recommend buying an unranked one and leveling it yourself if you do.

Rather than expending a Forma, place [Primed Continuity] on the Madurai slot that held [Intensify], and put [Intensify] on an unpolarized slot.

Forma Count: +0
Ability Duration: +25%

13.) Arcane Energize or Emergence Dissipate

Arcane Energize is by far the longest aspect to this grind. Not only is it time gated through the Cetus day and night cycle, but the drop chances of these Arcanes from Eidolons are so low it would make anyone cry. I caved and bought mine off the secondary market after selling Prime parts. And honestly, that really could be the fastest way to acquire these. Ultimately, these are optional. But Arcane Energize with [Energy Generator] is so absurd of a combo that your energy is damn near max at all times. I honestly say just grind Prime parts and sell them rather than going through the hassle of waiting for nighttime at Cetus and finding a competent team. Nice thing is, if you do get Arcane Energize it will automatically go on every build you ever use again. It offers more value than this one build.

For a budget option, try Emergence Dissipate from Cavalero at Crysalith, Zariman.

14.) Umbra Forma

Many are going to skip this step because the do not wish to use an Umbra Forma, let alone multiple, on a non Prime Frame. This is up to your discretion.

This is the next longest aspect of this grind. We need at least 2, and even 3. Thankfully, getting 2 is not impossible. This is a step you should be doing during the others. These have limited time windows. You don't want to accidentally miss one.

First, go check Teshin in a relay and see what his weekly item is. Then, go to the Wiki page for Steel Path Honors and see how many weeks until he arrives with the Umbra Forma. You will need 150 Steel Essence as well to purchase it. Be sure you're completing your Steel Path Incursions every day as well. Set an alarm on your phone for that week to buy it.

Up next is Nora's Nightwave. The Umbra Forma will be available once reaching Rank 29 with the Nightwave. Complete every bounty, or almost every bounty, each week and you'll get the Umbra Forma as fast as possible. You can skip a decent amount of more difficult bounties if you're willing to wait a touch longer.

Most likely, Teshin will bring the 3rd Umbra Forma before there is another Nightwave. But it could depend.

Reminder: This is at your own discretion!

Expend the first Umbra Forma and replace [Intensify] with [Umbral Intensify].

Umbra Forma Count: +1
Ability Strength: +14%

Expend the second Umbra Forma over the Vazarin Polarity and replace [Vitality] with [Umbral Vitality].

Umbra Forma Count: +1
Ability Strength: +11%

Now here is where you can elect to expend 2 Forma or 1 Umbra Forma to fit on everything else. In the completed [Wisp] build linked below, I have [Primed Sure Footed] in my Exilus slot. Having this requires the use of the 3rd Umbra Forma. However, I am willing to bet many, many players are very far away from their 400 day log in reward. We can instead polarize our Exilus slot to the Zenurik Polarity, and our [Stretch] slot to the Naramon Polarity. Thankfully, the Zenurik Polarity in the Exilus slot also matches Fused Resovoir. Although, if you wanted to run an Augment Mod like [Everlasting Ward], [Piercing Roar], or [Critical Surge], you would need to instead make both slots Zenurik Polarity. That is your decision.

You will also see your Ability Strength dip by 2% when we drop [Augur Secrets]. You could instead drop [Stretch] so that your Ability Strength is 24% higher instead, but I found the increased Range to suit better. Your buffs will already be immensely powerful.

Forma Count: +0 or +2
Umbra Forma Count: +0 or +1
Ability Strength: +22%

Once you have Primed Sure Footed, you'll want to re-polarize your Exilus slot to Vazarin, and expend the final Umbra Forma. From here, I also recommend unpolarizing your flex slot to allow any mod with capacity up to 11. That way you can use [Stretch], or an Augment, or whatever you want really.

Forma Count: +2
Umbra Forma Count: +0 or +1

Final Costs and Stats

Ability Efficiency: 45%, 65%, or 105%
