A fairly standard [Shattering Impact] build that tries to also remain relevant outside of Eidolon Hunts.
This mod removes 6 BASE ARMOR per proc at max rank. That means that when an enemy multiplies its armor based on its level, so does the armor strip of this mod. Lets look at an Eidolon Hydrolyst:
- Hydrolyst have a base level of 1 (as do most enemies) and at that level has 150 armor.
- At level 60 (its spawn level) it multiplies that to over 1000.
- Using [Shattering Impact] we can reduce the base armor to 30, which means the lv60 hydrolyst only has 218 armor now!
This is an incredibly effective tool for weapons like gunblades or Arum Spinosa that fire off lots of fast projectiles.
This makes it ideal for killing bosses like the hydrolyst. However, we don't actually want to reduce the armor to zero. Alloy armor takes 75% more damage from radiation, and the robotic health of a hydrolyst takes an additional 25%. That means its really ideal to lower it as close to 0 then swap to another weapon. As this gun fires 9 pellets, the best we can do is 4 shots of a rank 3 version of this mod, stripping armor down to 6. This leaves the massive damage multiplier for radiation in tact while also getting the armor down increadibly low. Also convienently costs 1 less forma this way.
Remaining Mods
- Sacraficial Steel: all heavy attacks will have 123% critical chance, meaning every pellet crits and ~2 double crit
- Sacraficial Pressure: due to heavy attack spam, this is just slightly better dps
- Primed Fever Strike + Vicious Frost: enables viral procs to amp up any slash procs.
- Corrupted Charge: doubles heavy attack damage
- Amalgam Organ Shatter: speeds up heavy attack charge time considerably.
- Primed Furry: the best attack speed mod that doesn't require kills, as mid-eidolon hunt those aren't common.
- Shattering Impact: for the status half of this build, acts like a pseudo-heat proc that just automatically helps our damage.
Damage Numbers
While the dps doesn't look particularly high, it does much better then first appearances
- Per Heavy Attack: 191,000 damage
- Damage per Second spamming heavy attacks: 222,000 dps
- Average Status per Shot: 1.485 (~3 every 2 shots)(2 shots = usually 2 viral and 1 slash)
- Armor Strip: 36 BASE armor
With the Viral proc doubling all further damage while also reducing enemy base armor, this gun isn't too shabby. It won't be breaking any records, but you can count on it being at least adequate while also serving an incredibly important niche of hunting eidolons. It's a worthwhile addition to a lot of armories as a result.
*Note: unsure if attack speed is 2.5 or 1. If it is 2.5 then the actual dps is just under 600,000!
Alterations
- it is 5% better to use [Sacrificial Pressure] over [Primed Pressure Point]. The warning with this is that it also takes 2 additional forma to fit this microscopically better mod onto the weapon. I highly recommend trying this build first and decide if you really want to fully optimize this gun before that. It does up your damage to 239,000dps
- If you do the above alteration, make sure you polarize a spot for [Shattering Impact]. Being able to swap to a max rank version of this mod is pretty dang helpful and MIGHT be enough to get you through the steel path.
