Ridiculous survivability even without rolling guard.
Stay put or move around. This build enables both play-styles.
Customization:
Exilus slot is flexible. If you think you will be fine with 145% range for both turrets and gloom. It just has to be forma'ed to avoid having to install an Umbral forma. Whatever makes you feel more comfy, but I have tested both range possibilities and 160% was the sweet spot for me.
Another possible replacement is Natural Talent, even thou I strongly recommend it to be in place. If you are a Rolling Guard die-hard fan, here is where you place it. But! With Protea's inbuilt shield-gate mechanics you will want Shield Satellites to be cast as fast as possible. Also, Blaze Artillery placement and Shrapnel Vortex will be much more effective when Natural Talent is present. The fire-rate wont benefit from it thou.
For 95% gloom slow:
- cast 3 random abilities (ex: shield up, and 2 shrapnel vortexes)
- now your next one will have 100% extra strength,
- apply a status effect with weapon for [Growing Power] to proc.
- Use gloom. It will now will be at 280% power, capping the slow speed at 95%.
For max Blazing Artillery damage, I recommend Cedo secondary fire with 180% status (Viral or Corrosive, depending on enemy level) and/or [Epitaph] (the latter with Primed Fulmination for more radius.
This is not a melee build.
Enjoy!
Btw, pro-tip: farming a second [Protea] for Helminth is a lot faster with your first [Protea] with a lot of range. [Mesa] PALES in comparison.
