Nekros - Solo Steel Path Resource Farming

Why Use This Build?

  • Nekros is able to get more resources from enemies by using Desecrate.
  • Petrify along with Ore Gaze has been added for more loot.
  • [Nekros] is quite tanky because he is one of the few frames able to take full advantage of Health Conversion and Equilibrium.

How to Use This Build

  • Activate Desecrate and use Petrify whenever you have enough energy so you can pick up Energy Orbs to restore Health.
  • Using [Transient Fortitude] and normal [Vitality] instead of the Umbral mods only requires four Forma total (and no Umbral Forma) for this build instead of six. The only difference is 5.5 seconds less on Petrify (14.5 seconds instead of 20 seconds) and 110 less Health (740 instead of 850).

Abilities

  • Passive - Restore 5 health per enemy killed within 10m.
  • Soul Punch - Instantly kills enemies at or below 25% health and summons a Shadow.
  • Terrify - This is useful in a pinch but otherwise not worth using.
  • Desecrate - This is Nekros's main way to get more loot.
  • Petrify - This is used to get more loot with Ore Gaze.

Mods

  • Growing Power - Strength for Ore Gaze. Enemy Radar or Corrosive Projection is fine instead.
  • Primed Sure Footed - Handspring is another good option but Primed Sure Footed is better. Handspring fits without the Forma in the Exilus slot.
  • Umbral Intensify - This is the same as Transient Fortitude for this build except it makes Umbral Vitality stronger. Strength is used to make Ore Gaze better.
  • Umbral Vitality - Provides a buffer for Despoil and higher EHP. This is only worth using if also using Umbral Intensify. Otherwise, use normal Vitality.
  • Health Conversion - 1350 armor
  • Adaptation - This adds the extra survivability that Nekros needs.
  • Despoil - Allows Desecrate to constantly be active and makes Equilibrium and Arcane Pulse better.
  • Equilibrium - Allows energy orbs to give Health for survivability and Health orbs to give Energy to cast Ore Gaze.
  • Stretch - Range for Desecrate
  • Ore Gaze - Gives extra loot. [Equilibrium] gives enough Energy to cast this very often and using Energy allows you to pick up Energy Orbs that give Health.

Arcanes

  • Arcane Guardian - Better than Arcane Grace due to Equilibrium and Arcane Pulse.
  • Arcane Blessing - Provides a large amount of Health. Arcane Grace or Pulse can be used instead.
  • Magus Elevate - Healing
  • Magus Lockdown - Good survivability and can hold targets in place

Archon Shards

  • I recommend 2 Parkour Velocity, 1 Armor, and 2 Casting Speed Shards.

Focus Schools

  • Vazarin provides good survivability with Guardian Break and Protective Sling. This isn't required but makes it much easier to survive high levels.

Appendix

  • More Range can be useful but you generally want to stay in one location to maximize enemy spawns; 145% range already gives you a 36.3 meter radius. This is more than enough for most tilesets. If you need more Range, you can replace Adaptation or Health Conversion with Overextended or a rank 4 Augur Reach.
  • [Umbral Fiber] is not used because [Health Conversion] already gives a large amount of armor on top of Arcane Guardian. The added Strength and Health are negligible and Armor is lower if using Umbral Fiber instead of Health Conversion.
  • I have tested many builds for [Nekros] and have decided that this is the best. I mostly use this build to farm Steel Path Survival on Terrorem, Deimos for Steel Path rewards, Mutagen Samples, Neurodes, and Orokin Cells. It functions well, but you have to be very careful about acolytes killing you. Using Khora is safer for this farm and gets a similar amount of resources.
  • I have another build for [Nekros] which uses Gloom to be more tanky but sacrifices some of the looting potential that [Ore Gaze] offers. It fits with the same Forma layout but utilizes another optional Umbral Forma.
