Nekros - Solo Steel Path Resource Farming

Why Use This Build?

  • Nekros is able to get more resources from enemies by using Desecrate and Petrify with Ore Gaze which has been subsumed.
  • [Nekros] is very tanky due to the high amount of health and armor he can achieve and the continuous flow of orbs to regenerate that health.

Abilities

  • Passive - Restore 5 health per enemy killed within 10m.
  • (1) Soul Punch - Instantly kills enemies at or below 25% health and summons a Shadow. You can put Petrify here if it is easier to click.
  • (2) Terrify - This is useful in a pinch but otherwise not worth using.
  • (3) Desecrate - This is Nekros's main way to get more loot and health orbs.
  • (4) Petrify - This is used to get more loot with Ore Gaze. Normally this is Shadows of the Dead.

How to Use This Build

  • Activate Desecrate and use Petrify whenever you have enough Energy.
  • Terrify can strip armor if you need that.

Mods

  • Growing Power - Strength for Ore Gaze.
  • Primed Sure Footed - Handspring if you don't have it.
  • Umbral Intensify - Strength for Ore Gaze. Transient Fortitude can be used instead, but it is worse.
  • Umbral Vitality - Provides a buffer for Despoil and higher EHP. This is only worth using if also using Umbral Intensify. Otherwise, use normal Vitality.
  • Health Conversion - 1350 armor
  • Adaptation - ~90% damage reduction
  • Despoil - Allows Desecrate to constantly be active and makes Equilibrium and Arcane Blessing better.
  • Equilibrium - Allows Energy orbs to give Health for survivability and Health orbs to give Energy to cast Ore Gaze.
  • Stretch - Range for Desecrate
  • Ore Gaze - Gives extra loot. Equilibrium gives enough Energy to cast this very often.

Arcanes

  • Arcane Guardian - Better than Arcane Grace due to Equilibrium and Arcane Pulse.
  • Arcane Blessing - Provides a large amount of Health. Arcane Grace or Pulse can be used instead.
  • Magus Elevate - Healing
  • Magus Lockdown - Good survivability and can hold targets in place

Archon Shards

  • I recommend 2 Parkour Velocity, 1 Armor, and 2 Casting Speed Shards.

Focus Schools

  • Vazarin provides good survivability with [Guardian] Break and Protective Sling. This isn't required but can make it easier to survive high levels if you are struggling.

Weapons

  • Anything that dismembers enemies can give you more loot, but it is best to kill enemies faster.

Companions

  • Anything with Resourceful Retriever is good.

Appendix

  • Do not use [Shield Of Shadows]. It is annoying to look at and is a huge trap for suvivability. You need to have enough Strength, cast the ability with a long animation, use 100 Energy, stay within range of the shadows, monitor how many shadows you have so you don't die, and you only get 90% damage reduction out of it. Adaptation is basically the same thing without restrictions and is already overkill for survivability on this build.
  • Using [Transient Fortitude] and normal [Vitality] instead of the Umbral mods only requires four Forma total (no Umbral Forma) for this build instead of six. The only difference is 5.5 seconds less on Petrify (14.5 seconds instead of 20 seconds) and 110 less Health (740 instead of 850).
  • More Range can be useful but you generally want to stay in one location to maximize enemy spawns; 145% range already gives you a 36.3 meter radius on Desecrate. This is more than enough for most tiles. If you need more Range, you can replace Adaptation or Health Conversion with Overextended or a rank 4 Augur Reach.
  • [Umbral Fiber] is not used because [Health Conversion] already gives a large amount of armor on top of Arcane Guardian. The added Strength and Health are negligible and Armor is lower if using Umbral Fiber instead of Health Conversion.
  • I have tested many builds for [Nekros] and have decided that this is the best. If you aren't farming resources, Gloom is better and the same build works with [Augur Reach] or Secrets instead of [Ore Gaze].
