Harrow: Xata's Whisper/Eclipse/Roar - Damage Buffs

Harrow Gameplay Guide

[Harrow] is a hybrid support who grants various offensive, defensive, and utility buffs to himself and his allies. He excels at covering weaknesses seen in weapons with low critical chance, fire rate, or reload speed while also helping allied Warframes who struggle with their energy economy or survivability. These tools are balanced by gimmicks that hinder their effectiveness like needing to headshot enemies or having to sacrifice his shields.

📝 Build Overview 📝

[Harrow] has strong buffs and a few abilities with Affinity Range rather than modded Range so this build focuses on maximizing their benefits. His buffs are primarily focused on quality of life benefits so we subsume weapon damage buffs to round out his kit.

🔢 Helminth Options 🔢

Condemn is the weakest ability on most builds because it's weaker than some of the Helminth options. All of his abilities have a place but their gimmicks might not suit your playstyle so replace whichever one you like the least.

[Xata]'s Whisper synergizes with [Harrow]'s headshot gimmick as it puts a bullet magnetizing bubble around the head of an enemy as long as the proc was on their head.

Eclipse is one of the strongest weapon buffs but requires you to play around environmental lighting for the maximum effect.

Roar is a very strong buff to weapons with status effect damage. It can help your allies as well but this build may have difficulties hitting them with it.

Elemental Ward, Warcry, and other hybrid defensive/offensive buffs are slightly less effective but can grant you better survivability against some enemies.

Voracious Metastasis can be used instead of Thurible if you want to convert this build into full support for your allies.

Other abilities are decent but provide a lot of redundancy due to the existence of operator mode, average loadout combinations, and the previously mentioned options.

📊 Ability Stats 📊

Strength and Duration have the most investment at the cost of Efficiency and Range. This allows your buffs to be stronger and last longer for a heavier weapon-focused playstyle.

Helminth Invigorations, Arbitration Buffs, Ally Abilities, Arcanes, and other external stat boosts can save you multiple mod slots but may rely on specific team compositions, loadouts, or sheer luck. Plan around these situations and modify your loadout to hit desired ability stat breakpoints.

⏲️ Duration ⏲️

Duration is boosted so various buffs don't need to be constantly recast. This increases your offensive actions per minute but it may be a bit much if your team is doing all of the heavy lifting.

⛽ Efficiency ⛽

Efficiency is lowered by [Blind Rage] but it shouldn't have a negative impact on this build. Thurible should still be giving plenty of energy back but be wary of nearby allies taking your kills as you might run out of energy eventually.

📏 Range 📏

Range is less useful on this build as we're relying on solo-buffs or things with Affinity Range like Penance or Covenant. Narrow Minded can be cut if you want to assist your allies with abilities that scale with modded Range.

💪 Strength 💪

Strength is significantly boosted to benefit your buffs but Blind Rage might have too much of a negative impact on your energy economy. Transient Fortitude can be used instead.

↔️ Alternate Playstyles ↔️

Most builds utilize tools that can be swapped out to serve the same purpose albeit in a different manner. The following suggestions are an outline and aren't exhaustive.

🔧 Mods 🔧

  • Aura mods should be selected based on your playstyle and loadout.
  • [Primed Sure Footed] is a powerful survival tool that completely negates many forms of hostile crowd control. It also allows weapons with a large area of effect to be fired with impunity. It's an expensive login reward so replace it if you have other forms of status effect immunity.
  • Natural Talent is useful for spamming all of your abilities but it can be cut if you're using a more conservative playstyle.
  • [Adaptation] synergizes with Covenant because it allows you to build stacks for free but it becomes far less useful against high level enemies.
  • [Vigorous Swap] grants additional weapon damage and weapon swap speed which plays to the strengths of this build. It's far less useful if your allies are doing all the work and you're using abilities only to buff their damage instead of your own.
  • [Harrow]'s augments primarily grant quality of life benefits so save these flex slots for augments related to subsumed abilities.

⚙️ Arcanes ⚙️

Arcane Energize pairs well with [Primed Flow] and allows you to be extremely greedy with your ability casts. It can be replaced if you're confident with your energy economy or if you're playing with an ally Warframe that provides energy.

Arcane Aegis synergizes shield gating and invincibility to grant you pseudo-invincibility against everything other than Toxin attacks. This is far less useful in lower level missions and can be replaced if you don't trust the high proc RNG.

📋 Final Notes 📋

[Harrow]'s passive grants 200% maximum Overshields and an innate [Preparation] mod. This is usually inconsequential in most content due to the shield gating meta and the copious amounts of energy regeneration from various sources but it can save a mod or two on some loadouts.

Penance and Covenant have negative synergy with Thurible due to the Range inconsistencies between mods and Affinity. This forces you to make sacrifices depending with mod opportunity cost so it might just be easier to tell allies to stay closer to you rather than ruin your build.

Many abilities have a headshot gimmick that increases their effectiveness. Not all enemies can receive headshots and allies can hinder your setups by killing enemies so no builds will factor in these headshots into calculations. They're just a nice bonus.
