Icebound Frost | Full Armor Strip + Biting Frost Crit Avalanche with Spellbound Harvest

INTRODUCTION

This build focuses on Avalanche to achieve 100% armor strip in a large area and [Biting Frost] as an option to give a further 200% Crit Chance and Crit Damage (note for most weapons, full armor strip is enough to one-shot most enemies in the game with extra crit bonus). Spellbind provides knockdown/status immunity and [Spellbound Harvest] allows you to regenerate energy on demand, with particular synergy with [Frost] as enemies frozen by avalanche can be spammed by spellbind to produce energy multiple times. Survivability is via insane crowd control from spellbind combined with avalanche as well as shield gating through augur mods and low efficiency. One cast of Avalanche or two casts of globe can easily max your shields. Globe offers an additional layer of defense/survivability, or even a way to one-shot enemies primed with viral status.

Note: Empty slot is flexible for Biting Frost, Streamline, Primed Continuity/[Augur Message] or [Rolling Guard] depending on preference and loadout

Alternate verions with Spectrorage with spectrosiphon augment to generate more energy orbs to power avalanche: https://overframe.gg/build/273692/
Alternate version using ensnare with Icy Avalanche augment: https://overframe.gg/build/238735/

PLAYSTYLE

  1. Cast avalanche (4) to freeze and strip enemies and spam spellbind on a group of four or more enemies once or twice to refill energy to max. Note to gain the self spellbind buff for knockdown immunity, you need to walk through the 9m 'dust cloud' that you cast, or alternatively, hold spellbind to self-cast.
  2. Whenever shieds deplete, cast snow globe to push all enemies away and block all enemy fire (remember it is invulnerable for 4 seconds) followed by avalanche to refill shields to full.
  3. Kill enemies with whatever weapon you prefer.

Here is a video demonstrating the playstyle:

BUILD SPECIFICS:

Duration
Duration can be kept at neutral to give Avalanche 8s freeze duration.

Efficiency
Efficiency is dropped because [Spellbound Harvest] allows energy regeneration on demand. Casting Avalanche and Spellbind in a row costs 194 energy (or 156 with [Streamline]). [Spellbound Harvest] returns 125 energy per cast at 250% strength, so 3 quick spam casts refills 375 energy, which is a net positive of 181.

Range
Higher range is ideal so avalanche and spellbind cover more area.

Strength
This is the most crucial stat as 250% strength is the breakpoint required to achieve 100% armor strip from avalanche. This is can be achieved by one of the following:

  • [Blind Rage] (99%) + Umbral Intensify (44%) + Rank 2 power drift (7.5%) = 250.5% (frees up aura slot for brief respite or enemy radar)
    OR
  • Blind rage (99%) + Umbral Intensify (44%) + Growing Power (25%) = 268% (frees up exilus slot for primed sure footed)

Aura

  • Enemy radar helps with tracking enemies, very useful when you need to carefully aim spellbind and not waste avalanche casts
  • [Brief Respite] helps with shield regen, but is not compulsory, particularly if you run Augur mods on your secondary or sentinel secondary.
  • Growing power helps free up the exilus slot

Flexible slots
Exilus - primed sure footed if you own it, otherwise use handspring or vigilante pursuit

Empty slot:

  • Biting Frost - more crit, slightly redundant when you are full stripping. Also depends on your weapon. If a weapon is not crit viable, there is still NO point running this unless you use avenger.
  • Streamline - improves energy economy
  • Rolling Guard - helps with survivability

Arcanes
Energize for enegy [Regen]
Aegis for additional survivability

ARSENAL

With grouped and armor stripped enemies, we can employ the power of electric and gas status to nuke enemies. This is because electric and gas both create AOE damage (in 3m radius) effects that magnify expontentially when enemies are grouped.

Good options for this include:
Primaries:

Secondaries:

  • Detron variants (thermagnetic shell)
