Inaros Prime - Mortal Shell | Survivability Onion Minimizes Vulnerability

Paired companion build: Sly Vulpaphya - Onion Cat

[Inaros] is bad. Why may not be immediately obvious, but this build aims to reduce his vulnerability to damage in multiple ways.
the integrated survivability onion
This is the Integrated Survivability Onion. If its purpose is not immediately clear, here's a quick list of where various abilities and defenses fall on this chart.

  1. Detect and Respond to Threat First: Xaku's Grasp of Lohk. Saryn's Spores. Vauban's Flechette Orbs. Proactive use of enemy radar.
  2. Prevent Detection/Prevent Threat: All Stealth effects. All Crowd Control that prevents attacks.
  3. Prevent Lock On: All Blind effects. Banshee's Silence. Zephyr's Turbulence. Operator form. Nyx and Xaku's passives.
  4. Decoy/Avoid Threat: All Confusion effects, including Radiation procs. [Octavia]'s Mallet. [Saryn]'s Decoy. Innate Warframe mobility.
  5. Destroy Threat: All sources of damage.
  6. Resist Threat Effects: [Revenant]'s Mesmer Skin. [Inaros]'s Negation Swarm. Rolling Guard. Primed [Sure Footed].
  7. Control Damage: Shield gating. Armor. Adaptation. Arcane Barrier. Arcane [Guardian]. Other sources of damage reduction.
  8. Replace, Reconfigure, Restore Capability: All sources of healing. Ammo restoration. Energy restoration. Abilities with multiple modes.

If you're following along, that means you're probably realizing where [Inaros]'s abilities land on this chart. Desiccation at layer 3, Devour at layers 3 and 8(to the exclusion of layers 1 and 5), Sandstorm at very arguably layer 2 and layer 7, Scarab Armor at layer 7, and Scarab Swarms at layers 2 and 8.
In other words, his defensive profile is skewed heavily towards taking damage and trying to recover from it, and that's a problem - at some point, even if you've got the strongest possible armor, getting hit will kill you.

So how do you fix this?

The answer, of course, is to add more layers. Where doesn't Inaros have reliable ways to prevent threats, and where can he get them for the least cost?

  • The companion! A companion with [Primed Animal Instinct] allows you to observe and preempt threats, reducing vulnerability at layer 1. With the paired companion build, vulnerability is decreased at layers 1 and 3, by way of Primed Animal Instinct, Survival Instinct, and Sly Devolution. It also helps cover layer 4, by way of distracting enemies as it fails to die.
  • Octavia's Resonator is at layer 2, and is the most reliable Helminth-available form of crowd control.
  • Overextended and Primed Continuity make Desiccation, Resonator, and Scarab Swarm significantly more effective at layers 2 and 3.
  • Strength at layer 5 is extremely easy to obtain. Try using a gun!
  • Primed Sure Footed prevents most losses of control, thus decreasing vulnerability at layer 6.
  • Rolling Guard, while somewhat reactive, also decreases vulnerability at layer 6.
  • Health Conversion gives an extremely high amount of armor, the largest [Inaros] can reasonably obtain from one slot, but it's vulnerable to enemy attacks and can't recharge at full health... or it would be, without the combination of [Octavia]'s Resonator and the Sly Vulpaphyla with Synth Fiber, which largely remove these weaknesses. This decreases vulnerability at layer 7.
  • Arcane Guardian reduces vulnerability at layer 7.
  • Arcane Grace and Rejuvination reduce vulnerability at layer 8.
