Overkill 3X Umbral Lavos for Steel Path

Overkill 3x Umbral [Lavos]. One Umbral forma.

Your survivability is unquestionably high, too high really to justify in most cases especially with Grace and [Guardian]. As such you could lay off of the defensive arcanes or Umbral survivability mods to save forma or slot in something else. Mods like [Adaptation] are completely unnecessary.

My #1 replacement would be to sub in [Stretch] as [Lavos] can really use range. If combo'd correctly, additional strength isn't really needed either due to ridiculous damage potential of Catalyze. So [Stretch] would be the best choice to give more AoE on all abilities and spread status farther in each rotation of abilities.

[Growing Power] is a possible substitution for [Corrosive Projection] but either is perfectly usable. Seeing how a minus polarity is on [Lavos] already, it's probably not worth the forma.

Efficiency is a pretty useless stat. Casting your 3 into a large crowd will give a huge reduction in cooldown regardless of efficiency percentage.

Duration is mostly useless but unfortunately you should maintain around 100% due to the residue duration on vial [Rush] alone. You should be able to combo within the time at 97% duration.

With [Lavos], I barely use weapons. Even though guns can increase damage output, especially guns that apply many status effects, if you rotate abilities correctly you will barely have time and will be able to cover more area with abilities anyway.

Vial [Rush] through crowds, Ophidian [Bite] towards especially strong enemies, then Probe through a large crowd to [Recover] cooldown. Vial [Rush] and Ophidian [Bite] again and Catalyze, then Probe again another crowd to [Recover] Catalyze cooldown. [Lavos] gameplay is unique to him and it pays to experiment with imbues and ability rotation depending on context in the moment. There are guides that help you make split decision making on this.

Some builds may use [Natural Talent] or other cast speed mods due to his two full body animation abilities, but I don't think the [Sacrifice] of stats is worth it and his extreme tank stats even without maximum survivability modding should easily carry you through the damage you take in animation. You should be regularly healing passively in combo with Ophidian [Bite] so hitpoints should never be a real concern.

Don't bother playing [Lavos] at low level, even sortie level is too low to bother playing him. He's not particularly good for nuking rooms, although his 3 can spread mildly impressive damage quickly that can kill low to mid level trash mobs pretty well. However due to his cooldown and lack of ability to spam the same ability to wipe rooms, he is not going to perform at low level.

Instead, save [Lavos] specifically for steel path if you want to see high damage dealt percentages. Almost any other content will be better cleared by [Ember], [Xaku], [Revenant]... etc. This is why I mod him for high level, because no matter how you mod this frame he will not compete effectively against others at typical levels, even if you never die and do a little damage.
