Regulators Viral+Heat General Gameplay 1st Config

Updated: 13/12/2021

  • Scratched two lines in the build cuz they are incorrect, if you don't have primed mods simply run their counterparts. Please don't get rid of bane mods cuz they double dip your heat procs and don't get their value diminished from Secondary Merciless / mesa ability strength. Please don't drop the heat mod cuz that's your main dmg source.
  • Added a more in depth explanation on the damage calculation for Regulators. (credit to The-Simulacrum-Warriors https://overframe.gg/build/36754/, go give it a thumbs up)

Viral+Heat general build.

Viral+Heat will always out perform corrosive build in general gameplay.

You don't run Anemic Agility because we are running Arcane Velocity on our [Mesa] build.

You don't run Hornet Strike or Galvanized Shot because of the way [Mesa]'s peacemakers damage is calculated. Since our [Mesa] build has 210% ability strength, the damage that we gain from these two mods is lower than the damage we gain from primed faction mods or Primed Heated Charge. Here's the calculation for their damage, as you can see Regulators use an extremely unique calculation to decide how much damage you'll be doing with each shot. Base damage mods under-perform in this calculation along with any form of conditional power strength. This includes things like [Energy Conversion], [Growing Power], and anything that activates during the mission.

Another specific reason why we don't run Galvanized Shot is because [Galvanized Shot] doesn't work very well on [Regulators]. Not only does it get absolutely destroyed for the same reason [Hornet Strike] does (you can check out the calculation linked in the build description) it also doesn't properly scale to the damage listed on the card. This means that it only provides less than 10% damage overall when using adequate power strength, but the faction mod will always provide 1.55x damage. DE may eventually fix the GunCO bug that makes it do far less damage than it's supposed to and it will compete with the faction mod at that point, but until it's fixed, running Galvanized Shot is an opportunity cost on your build.

You run 60/60 viral mods instead of 90 because you want your heat damage to be higher than viral so that it procs more often. If heat procs more often, we'll be applying more heat procs aka they ramp up to deal more damage per heat tick.

If you're wondering why no status mods, well our status chance is 10%, adding 60% or 80% or 120% to nothing equals nothing. So adding Galvanized Shot for the sake of gaining more status chance will only give you +8% status chance, that's not worth the mod slot.

Important notice: If you don't have primed faction expel mods, run Hornet Strike ( hornet has same value as galv shot at 5 status procs aka 600% dmg). If you don't have primed mods, run their regular parts. If you don't have Primed Heated Charge run Anemic Agility.

This build is made to share the same polarities for two other configurations, here's the links to them:
