Crushing Pulse Beginner's Mag | General Use Crowd Control + Full Armor Strip

INTRODUCTION

VEILBREAKER UPDATE:
[Fracturing Crush] now full strips at only 133% power strength AND gives +50% cast speed.

This [Mag] build is focused on utilizing the combination of polarize and crush abilities for wide area crowd control and armor strip, pull for grouping, while magnetize is used more as a single target DPS option or smaller range grouping option.

The [Counter Pulse] augment provides crowd control against ranged enemies by jamming their guns while the fracturing crush augment provides crowd control against melee enemies by making them unable to move.

BUILD SPECIFICS

Duration
We keep duration around neutral so [Counter Pulse] and [Fracturing Crush] have their base crowd control time (about 4s and 7s respectively) and polarize wave travels further (approx 40m at base) . Ideally more duration is better, but you will be spamming [Counter Pulse] frequently to achieve a relatively constant lockdown as well as for quick shield [Regen].

Efficiency
Spamming nearly all abilities requires either a large energy pool or high efficiency. We can either run [Primed Flow] + [Streamline] or [Fleeting Expertise] + [Primed Continuity]. If you run multiple archon shards for strength, you could even drop [Umbral Intensify] and run [Primed Flow], [Primed Continuity] and [Fleeting Expertise] together.

Range
Positive range is needed to scale magnetize, initial range of polarize and the range of crush.

Strength
Positive strength is needed to scale the percent armor strip of [Fracturing Crush] and flat armor strip of polarize, as well as providing a small boost to the magnetize multiplier (note only applies to single target). We just need to hit 134% strength for fracturing crush to full strip. This can be hit with one Umbral Intensify (doesnt even need to be max rank) or 2-4 archon shards. Ideally you could run 3 Tauforged strength shards and 2 Tauforged cast speed shards.

Aura/Exilus
Aura - [Enemy Radar] is essential for telegraphing where to place magnetize bubbles to create chokepoints, planning when to nuke with magnetize and to overall track enemy pathing. The addition onto primed animal instinct is indispensable, particularly if your pet dies or has downtime and you lose radar completely.

Exilus - primed sure footed is best in slot to prevent knockdowns. Handspring is a useful alternative.

Flexible Slots
Rolling guard - good for extra layer of survivability while using polarize/crush to shield [Regen], as well as status cleanse. If you don’t feel you need this, replace for more duration e.g. constitution or range e.g. augur reach

Natural talent - crucial mod to reduce cast time of polarize and crush, which you will be spamming frequently. Now with Archon Shards, you can drop [Natural Talent] and even run up to 5 tauforged shards for up to +125% cast speed!

HELMINTH

You don't really need to subsume anything since all abilities do something useful, but if you really wanted to you could subsume over pull.

[Xata]'s Whisper can be used for a general DPS increase and general utility as enemy bullets can't exit the bubble, and also because it fits thematically with [Mag], being that it creates small magnetic fields around enemies. It also has crazy interactions with incarnon weapons like [Phenmor] and [Felarx] which are amazing with magnetize.

Other good options include:
Breach surge for magnetize feedback loop (see dedicated breach surge magnetize build)
Roar for general DPS
Molt for speed/status cleanse/decoy

ARSENAL

Weapons that have high raw damage, are projectiles and/or have punchthrough work best with magnetize as they will orbit around the centre of the bubble hitting enemies multiple times or have high raw damage that will get stored in the bubble. Additionally, weapons modded with electric or gas work great on grouped enemies and will have the fastest time to kill (note that DoT damage does not contribute to magnetize damage).

PLAYSTYLE

  1. Cast pull for quick crowd control and grouping
  2. Cast polarize frequently while on the move for wide area crowd control and quick shield [Regen].
  3. Cast crush to permanently strip armor and immobilize melee enemies
  4. Cast magnetize on dense groups of enemies and at chokepoints to block enemy fire, then shoot into the bubble. Once the bubble expires, it will explode and kill other enemies.
  5. Cast magnetize on high value targets such as acolytes and bosses and shoot into the bubble for a quick kill.

For survivabiliy, use [Rolling Guard] with a combination of crush and polarize to regenerate shields and the insane crowd control from all of [Mag]'s abilities.
