Gloom Saryn | Immortal Spore Tanking Steel Path

INTRODUCTION

This is a niche face tanking [Saryn] build that lets [Saryn] stand still, take damage and stay alive. This is made posible by the combination of Gloom (subsumed from [Sevagoth]) and Spores. Gloom gives you lifesteal from all damage sources with an infinite range, meaning as long as spores are doing damage, you can heal back any damage taken. With spores and gloom active, you should be healing approximately 7 to 8% lifesteal/second. At 1000 spore damage, this means you heal at a rate of 80 health PER enemy affected. If 10 enemies are affected at 1000 spore damage, you are healing at a rate of 800 health/second. This means you can basically heal your entire health pool every second, and as long as spores are active and an enemy does not take off all your health in one shot, you are effectively immortal by just standing still.

This differs slightly from other Gloom [Saryn] builds due to the use of [Hunter Adrenaline] and lower strength, with a focus more on taking hits to regenerate energy rather than achieving maximum slow crowd control and relying on arcane energize procs. Note that this build is NOT suited for endurance, where you will probably get one-shot regardless of heal rate at around level 500-1000 if you stand still and get shot.

Polarities are shared with a general use offensive Saryn build: https://overframe.gg/build/207018/

You can alter polarities based on your preference.

BUILD SPECIFICS

Duration
Positive duration helps reduce the energy drain of gloom, but also benefits uptime of toxic lash and reduces decay of spores.

Efficiency
It may seem like 100% efficiency is too low, but Saryn's immense energy pool combined with hunter adrenaline +/-arcane energize allows reasonably easy energy maintenence. Feel free to add [Streamline] over [Stretch] if you prefer less drain or don't own arcane energize.

Range
As with most [Saryn] builds, range is essential for spreading spores. Gloom also affects more enemies with high range, but note that since energy drain from Gloom is capped at 10 enemies, higher range is unlikely to affect your overall energy drain.

Strength
At 139% strength, gloom gives 49% slow. You can increase this with growing power and/or pax bolt to hit 66% slow. Why do we not want the slow to hit the cap of 95%? WIth the high range that [Saryn] requires, slowing all enemies beyond walls will make missions take forever and be conterintuitive for survival missions. In addition, to regain energy with hunter adrenaline, we actually want enemies to shoot us at a reasonable rate.

Flexible slots

  • [Preparation] is very useful that could be used in exilus as you can begin the mission with near full energy and therefore cast gloom straight away, although having hunter adrenaline gives easy energy anyway
  • Primed sure footed/handspring for knockdown resistance
  • [Adaptation] and [Vitality] provide higher EHP and healing buffer but can be replaced by more power strength or efficiency if preferred.

Arcanes

  • Energize is good for energy gain, but if you get hit on purpose, hunter adrenaline will fill energy to max in seconds
  • Guardian for improving damage reduction
  • Avenger for crits

PLAYSTYLE

  1. Use zenurik or energy pads to gain reasonable buffer of energy (can skip this with [Preparation])
  2. Activate 3 toxic lash and cast 1 spores on an enemy, then shoot them to spread the spores
  3. Activate 2 gloom
  4. Kill enemies
  5. Let spores spread which will heal you, make sure the spore count NEVER runs out otherwise you will stop healing and die easily
  6. If energy is running low, let the enemies shoot you to regain some energy or kill enemies faster to drop energy orbs

Here is an example of starting a mission and face tanking straight away:
