Nidus Prime | Steel Path

INTRODUCTION

This is a general use Nidus build for high range larva and high strength parasitic link which can tank regular starchart and base/early steel path with ease. For endurance or level cap steel path, remove adaptation, vitality and hunter adrenaline for rolling guard, primed continuity/[Transient Fortitude] or [Insatiable].

BUILD SPECIFICS

Duration
Maintain neutral duration to have decent duration on parasitic link and ravenous. Can drop to negative if needed. Larva is better with slightly lower duration so it can be spammed more often, unless you are running [Larva Burst].

Efficiency
Lowest efficiency is fine for [Nidus] since 1 and 2 only cost 62 and 39, 3 and 4 cost no energy and 1 even refunds energy, potentially gaining energy when efficiency is low. Additionally [Hunter Adrenaline] allows for easy energy [Regen] so you can spam 1 and 2 endlessly.

Range
High range is essential for larva to pull the most enemies. Range also helps maggot explosions and the link distance.

Strength
High strength scales the damage of 1, the boost of 3 and maggot explosions from 4.

Flexible Slots

Adaptation and Teeming virulence are both flexible slots which can be switched for more:

  • Range (Augur Reach) - to hit max larva range
  • Strength (Transient fortitude)
  • Efficiency (Streamline)
  • Insatiable augment - faster stack gain on ravenous
  • Larva Burst - low level nuking

Exilus slot is also flexible for [Primed Sure Footed] if you don't want to rely on link for knockdown resist, [Power Drift], [Vigilante Armaments] e.t.c.

Aura is your preference

Helminth
[Nidus] has a reasonably synergistic kit so is best run without helminth.
If you really want to subsume something, you will probably subsume into 4.
Options that synergize well with high strength/ or high range (although you may need more duration to sustain):

  • Roar - universally good
  • Fire blast - AOE armor strip
  • Resonator - mass crowd control
  • Elemental ward - more health or armor
  • Gloom - CC and healing

Arcanes
Any arcane that triggers "on damaged" is ideal for nidus due to the inherent lack of shields:

  • Arcane Guardian - provides basically the same amount of armor as Umbral Fiber pumping up damage reduction by 20%.
  • Arcane Avenger - gives flat +45% crit change after all other bonuses, which pushes the crit chance even higher with teeming virulence
  • Arcane Grace - passive healing for lazy immortality
  • Arcane Agility - parkour fast!

PLAYSTYLE

  1. Cast 2 to group enemies
  2. Cast 1 into the ball of enemies to kill and build stacks
  3. Cast 3 on nearby enemy
  4. Cast 4 when enough stacks
  5. Repeat steps 1 and 2 constantly
  6. Recast 3 and 4 on expiry
