Each arrow spawns a swarm of sticky appendages on impact. These tongue-like probes latch onto nearby unfortunates and drag them close before bursting into a mess of diseased goo.

tldr:
galv aptitiude DOES NOT DO DAMAGE ON AOE. serration is better, but galv ap is not terrible because it works on tentacles and gives status chance.
ㅤㅤㅤ- vile acceleration is unnecessary especially with bow ammo scarcity in sp
ㅤㅤㅤ- primed cryo is bad (fks status effects, doesnt really do anything better than a mod currently slotted)
ㅤㅤㅤ- status effects > raw dps (the status effects multiply our damage by more than what we would gain from slotting more base dmg)

  • some people like to build this gun for elec instead of heat. it is only better with external strip + grouping + not in endurance

options:

  • if you dont have arcanes, use [Heavy Caliber] over bane. if you have arcanes, bane is better but heavy caliber or galvanized aptitude are a good alternatives if you dont like bane mods.
    ㅤㅤㅤ- galv ap doesnt work on aoe but it works on the tentacles and gives status chance so it can be ok if theres no better options.
  • if you dont have some mods, use the next closest thing you have (ie, stormbringer for high voltage, rifle aptitude for galvanized one).
  • other viable mod replacements: serration, heavy cal, vile acceleration, hammer shot (usually in that order)
  • this weapon relies alot on base damage because it cant abuse crit+slash or galv ap properly, so we mod it primarily for strong status effects & high base dmg

status per shot calculations:
[Serration]: 1.204×3.3= 3.9732
[Vigilante Armaments]: 1.204×3.9 = 4.6956
[Galvanized Aptitude]: 1.548×3.3 = 5.1084
galv ap + vig arm: 1.548×3.9 = 6.0372

notes:
with bow ammo being so scarce now, and since there is no real need to have a lot of fire rate, I think it is better to just go for a lot more dmg/shot
