The Voltage King | Amprex

Hello everyone,

My name is UltimoFive and today we are going over the [Amprex], The Voltage King.

Weapon Information

  • The [Amprex] is a Corpus Beam Rifle that fires a stream of electrical arcs that chain between enemies. In order to obtain the [Amprex] one must get the Blueprint by visiting the Energy Lab in the dojo and requires Fieldron, Plastids, Ferrite, and Argon Crystals to make it at the foundry.

  • The Amprex requires a mastery rank of 10.

  • The Amprex comes with only a "Dash" Exilus Slot. Because of this, the builds on this weapon will require 5 forma.

  • The [Amprex] excels in Close to Medium Range Combat and deals with High Leveled Enemies of all Factions in Small to Extremely Large Crowds.

Advantages vs. Disadvantages

Advantages:

  • Very High Critical Chance at 32%

  • High Status Chance at 22%

  • The Beam can chain up to 3 nearby enemies within 10 meters from each other

  • Consumes only 0.5 Ammo per Tick of Damage

Disadvantages:

  • Damage Ramps up from 30% to 100% over 0.6 Seconds when firing. After firing stops for 0.8 Seconds the damage decays back to 30% over 2 Seconds.

  • Slow Reload Speed of 2.6 Seconds

  • Limited Main Beam Length at 18 Meters

  • Limited Chain Beam Length at 10 Meters (Sinister Reach does NOT increase Range for Chain Length)

Builds

Corpus: Total Damage - | Average Hit - | Burst DPS - | Sustained DPS - | Tested up to Level 150

The Elements for the Amprex against the Corpus will be Viral/Electricity. Viral amplifies health damage by 100% for 6 seconds and stacks up to 10 times for a total of 325%. Meanwhile, Electricity stuns the target for 3 seconds and deals 50% base damage per second for 6 seconds. The Build's Flex Slot is Bladed Rounds and is incredible. Viral/Electricity turns the [Amprex] into a Corpus Killing Machine in which aiming for the heads of the Human Corpus increases Critical Chance so one can just decimate all units on the Corpus Side without issues against any unit.

Corrupted & Grineer:

  • Viral/Electric: Headshot Focused | Total Damage - | Average Hit - | Burst DPS - | Sustained DPS - | Tested up to Level 150

  • Viral/Slash: Non-Headshot Focused | Total Damage - | Average Hit - | Burst DPS - | Sustained DPS - | Tested up to Level 150

The Elements for the Amprex against the Corrupted and Grineer will be Viral/Electricity or Viral/Slash. Slash's status effect is Bleed and after 1 second it deals 35% of the base damage per second for 6 seconds, which bypasses armor. The Build's Flex Slot is Bladed Rounds for the Headshot Focused Build and Primed Bane of Grineer or Corrupted for the Non-Headshot Focused Build. The Headshot Focused Build is a bit more slow starting up, however in the end is more powerful than the Non-Headshot focused Build. This is mainly due to the weapon getting immense Critical Chance enhancements from [Galvanized Scope] which is much harder to trigger with [Hunter Munitions] attached. In which, due to the Slash Procs from [Hunter Munitions] it is practically impossible to keep the buffs up for Galvanized Scope, which is why there are two different Builds against the Corrupted and Grineer.

Infested:

  • Gas: Status CC Focused | Total Damage - | Average Hit - | Burst DPS - | Sustained DPS - | Tested up to Level 150

  • Viral/Electric: Kill Mode Focused | Total Damage - | Average Hit - | Burst DPS - | Sustained DPS - | Tested up to Level 150

The Elements for the Amprex against the Infested will be Gas/Electricity or Viral/Electricity. Gas deals 50% base damage per second for 6 seconds in a 3 meter radius and stacks up to 10 times to a total of 6 meters. The Build's Flex Slot is **Bladed Rounds for Both Variant Builds. Gas/Electricity is an immense CC combination mixed with damage over time Gas clouds, making for a huge deadly combo against all infested enemies. On the other hand, Viral/Electricity is plain Damage, made for destroying all infested that stand before you.

Recommended Alternative Mods

  • Vigilante Supplies - In place of having no Exilus Mod. This will cost 2 more Forma in order to have, but can help with the weapons Ammo and increased Crit enhancement.

  • Sinister Reach - In place of having no Exilus Mod. This will cost 1 more Forma in order to have, but extends the beam length.

  • Point Strike - In place of [Galvanized Scope] if one doesn't have access to the mod through Arbitration or prefers just Flat Critical Chance and doesn't wanna focus on Headshots.

  • Serration - In place of Galvanized Aptitude if one doesn't have access to the mod through Arbitration.

  • Split Chamber - In place of Galvanized Chamber if one doesn't have access to the mod through Arbitration.

  • Cryo Rounds - In place of Primed Cryo Rounds if one doesn't have it.

  • Bane Mods - In place of their Primed Counterparts if one doesn't have them.

  • Vile Acceleration or Speed Trigger - In place of the Build's Bane Faction Mod if one don't like using Faction Mods.

Synergy with Amprex

There are several ways to enhance Critical Stats and Damage for this weapon:

Damage:

  • Rhino's Roar adds Bonus Damage.

  • [Nova]'s Molecular Prime makes all sources of Damage increase by 100% against Primed Enemies, on top of that they will detonate upon death dealing Blast Damage.

  • Saryn's Toxic Lash mixed with her Spores abilities.

  • Mirage's Eclipse mixed with her Hall of Mirrors adds a Massive Damage bonus during the Day or in Light.

  • Equinox's Rest & Rage in Day Form makes targets more Vulnerable to Damage.

  • Wisp's Haste Reservoir bolsters fire rate, in turn increasing DPS.

  • Banshee's Sonar gives a Weapon Damage Multiplier.

  • Chroma's Vex Armor when Health gets damaged increases Weapon Damage.

Critical Stats:

  • Harrow's Covenant can add up to 50% Critical Chance and 200% on headshots.

  • Volt's Electric Shield when shot through adds a 200% Critical Damage Multiplier.

  • Zephyr's Passive increases Critical Chance by 150% while airborne.

  • Adarza Kavat with Cat's Eye can give a 60% Critical Chance boost.

  • Smeeta Kavat with Charm can give a 200% Crit Chance.

Arcane Synergy

  • Arcane Acceleration - Upon Critical Hit, 30% chance for 90% Fire Rate to Primary Weapons for 9 seconds.

  • Arcane Rage - Upon getting Headshot, 15% chance for 180% Damage to Primary Weapons for 24 seconds.

  • Arcane Avenger - Upon being damaged, 21% chance for 45% Critical Chance for 12 seconds.

  • Arcane Primary Charger - On Melee Kill, 30% chance for 300% damage to Primary Weapons for 12 seconds.

  • Arcane Arachne - On Wall Latch, 150% Damage for 30 seconds.

Primary Arcane

  • Primary Merciless - On Kill 30% Damage for 4 seconds, which stacks up to 12 times and comes with 30% Reload Speed and 100% Max Ammo. This Arcane I would say is the most beneficial to the Amprex if one chooses to not aim for Headshots, but I suggest it due to the Reload Speed mainly.

  • However, Primary Deadhead focuses on Headshots and provides upon getting a kill 120% Damage for 24 seconds, which stacks up to 3 times and comes with 30% Headshot Multiplier and -50% Weapon Recoil. This Arcane, since it focuses on Headshots, is more for those who are always going to be trying to aim for the head and want that Headshot Multiplier increase.

Riven Synergy

When you get your hands on a Riven for this weapon the Flex Slot to replace will be what was previously discussed before. This may require 1 or 2 more Forma and in order to maximize Damage output with the Amprex, one will need to get lucky and get some nice stats. These stats would be:

  • Ideal Stats - The Ideal Stats would be; Fire Rate, Critical Damage, Critical Chance, and Negative Zoom or Weapon Recoil.
