[Kuva Zarr] (aka Bramma's Pirate Cousin)

The Kuva Zarr is a cannon with two firemodes with very little down time when switching between the two modes.

Cannon Mode:

  • Fires a projectile that explodes in a 7m radius and releases smaller bomblets on impact.
  • Each bomblet will proceed to cause smaller explosions on contact with an enemy or surface
  • Explosions from both the main projectile and the bomblets can stagger the player

Barrage Mode:

  • This mode converts the [Kuva Zarr] into a shotgun with higher base crit chance, innate punchthrough and a base multishot of 10 pellets.

The [Kuva Zarr] also sports the same unique reload mechanic as it's predecessor, the [Zarr]. Although the [Kuva Zarr] has a base reload time of 4.8 seconds, the [Kuva Zarr] reloads each shot individually at the rate of approximately 1 ammo per 0.9 seconds. This reload animation can be cancelled mid reload to immediately use any individual rounds that have just been reloaded.

  • Increasing the magazine size will not decrease the loading time, as the visual reload time of the weapon is calculated by the individual ammo reload time * maximum ammo.

Build / Mod Info

This Kuva Zarr build will require a minimum of 2-3 forma's, however it's recommended to forma 5 times in order to obtain maximum Mastery Points for your MR.

For this build, we have rolled Toxin for our innate element. This allows us to mod for viral and frees up an additional mod slot for flexible configuration.

The staple mods for this weapon:

  • Vital Sense - Kuva Zarr has a strong Crit chance and Crit damage multipler, increasing our Crit Damage will be highly beneficial.
  • Galvanized Chamber - This is a new mod that came with the Sisters of Parvos update, and is available from the Arbitration Shop at the Arbiters of Hexis syndicate. If you don't have this, feel free to use Split Chamber
  • Critical Delay - [Kuva Zarr] is a crit viable weapon thus increasing the crit chance as much as possible will boost your damage. The firerate reduction doesn't pose much of an issue given that this isn't a weapon you'll want to be button mashing away with. Feel free to switch with Point Strike
  • Primed Cryo Rounds - Paired with the Innate Toxin, this mod allow us to inflict viral status on our targets causing them to take 100-225% more Health Damage. This mod is only available through Baro Kiteer's fortnightly trades. Alternative mods: Rime Rounds and Cryo Rounds

Optional Mods:-
Base Damage Mods

  • Serrations - This is a staple mod for all rifle weapons as it has the highest base damage increase
  • Heavy Caliber - Adds the same amount of damage as Serrations at the cost of accuracy. Fortunately, accuracy is negligable on this weapon.
    The reason both these base damage mods are optional is due to the r5 Primary Merciless arcane, due to diminishing returns of stacking the same type of damage and the sheer amount of raw damage the arcane adds at full stacks, we can focus our efforts elsewhere.

  • Hunter Munitions - This mod is available via the Ghoul Extermination Event that occurs every couple weeks. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. This mod is what keeps guns relevant at high level gameplay as slash damage completely bypasses the enemy's armor.

  • Galvanized Scope / Argon Scope - [Galvanized Scope] can increase your crit chance by +320% at max stacks. However it requires you to consistantly get Headshot kill without the target dying to status effects. Also, all stacks expire together at the end of it's duration.

  • Primed Bane Mods - Especially if you're going for [Hunter Munitions] builds, Bane mods will allow the slash proc to double dip on it's modifier, allowing you to deal 2x more slash damage per tick.
  • QoL mods: Primed Firestorm, Primed Fast Hands, Vile Acceleration - Combat experience isn't all about just the highest damage possible, Quality of Life mods can help patch clunky quirks of the weapon to make using it a much more smooth process.

Additional Notes:

  • You can increase the damage of [Kuva Zarr] by bringing Sentinel which will carry Sentinel Weapon with Vigilante mods on it. Even if your Sentinel dies, the Set Bonus will remain. Four Vigilante Mods gives you 20% chance to enhance Critical Hits from Primary Weapon.
  • Kuva weapons have a maximum rank of 40. To obtain ranks about 30, the player must polarize (forma) their weapon a total of 5 times. Each forma increases the weapon's max rank by 2.

  • Why not Galvanized Aptitude? - Currently CO gun mods appear to have issues with projectile weapons. While I haven't personally tested Aptitude on the [Kuva Zarr], the results from testing other weapons seem pretty consistant. Galv. Aptitude may still work on the Barrage Mode of the [Kuva Zarr] but... the cannon balls are where the fireworks at <3
