Gauss Prime

What does [Gauss] have to offer you ask?

[Gauss] is quite often though of as the speed frame, it is part of his description after all, but as I've played him for a good length I've come to realise that he can be so much more.
Most [Gauss] builds focus on the thermal sunder and mach rush to bounce between walls letting out long range explosions of slash and cold/heat/blast damage. You use your redline to half the mana cost of mach [Rush] while improving the damage mach [Rush] as it applies the slash status affect when you have kinetic plating active, while also pinging out some bolts of electricity. The kinetic plating helps absorb a lot of damage while also being a great source of energy, as as you take damage kinetic plating turns that into energy.

While this is a fun way to play [Gauss], and utilizes all of his abilities to their full extent. But now I am going to teach you how to actually play [Gauss].

What you need to do, is throw everything you think you know about [Gauss] out of the window, and build fully into duration, sacrificing range in the process with [Narrow Minded] to get a long duration usage out of your self buffs. As I am good at the game and only ever play [Gauss] this means I have built my [Gauss] to be suited for the Umbral mods, as having a lot of health and armour is really nice, and it helps further buff the [Umbral Intensify]. Now you are wondering, what is so good about kinetic plating and redline that you would build around them so hard?

Kinetic plating costs very little energy and can reduce damage from Slash/Impact/Puncture/Heat/Cold/Blast by up to 100%. Having this last over 80s is really nice although [Gauss] has a small energy pool of 225, this can quickly be filled by getting hit and by having it up for 80s means you're very likely to get hit, as a rule of life I follow in [Gauss] footsteps and make sure I don't go 80s without getting hit, although from my experience just do this in the game it's much better than real life.

You don't want to be redlining unless you are fighting a few enemies, as its energy cost is much more significant than kinetic plating but last for the same duration. Redlining not only causes bolts of lighting that cause short ranged puncture AOE lightning bolts, it also significantly increases the speed at which you do anything with your weapons, whether attacking reloading or holstering. When kinetic plating is simultaneously active not only are you melee attacks going faster from the redline, they also do +100% damage.

Now while I've mostly focused on Kinetic Plating and Redline, Thermal Sunder is not to be forgotten. Although the range is quite small, with redline active you can use it to instantly freeze foes, or set them on fire, but when combined, it changes to blast damage, it costs 100 energy to do two Thermal Sunders, but it results in strong damage and while redlining will strip a lot of armour from enemies, which can be extremely useful if you

But yea, so lastly is Mach [Rush], now this ability is really not that good with this build, even as maneuverability it is pretty bad. So I hit up my Helminth buddy Fredward to see what's popping and he recommended Eclipse from Mirage, as this is only 25 energy and while it has a slightly shorter duration than kinetic plating/redline it is a really nice buff that lasts for over 70s. You can use it to get a further 265% damage buff which works well with the higher rate of fire/attack speed redlining gives, or reduce all damage by 75%. It is less reliable than something like [Rhino] Roar, but it is multipurpose and as [Rhino] Roar is extremely good to helminth on any frame, if you play with other strong frames there is likely to be a [Rhino] Roar with not only good ability strength, but the range to hit other players that this build does not allow for. If you want reliable damage so don't want [Mirage], another good idea is to take [Xaku]'s Whispering which buffs your damage with void damage that no one has resistance to, unless you just want to go for a self [Rhino] Roar as you don't have any friends nor want to make any.

Every mod is a must except for adaption and [Carnis Carapace]. Adaption is great for higher level missions to help you be the ultimate endgame tank, but if you use 3 umbral forma you could chuck a lot of different things in that could be useful, I like to do [Gladiator Aegis] as it helps with melee combo damage if I am using melee I want to level and it gives some nice armour to help be you a true chonky boi. [Carnis Carapace] can also be swapped out, but it is really good for helping to tank up with the armour and health it gives, as well as having a set bonus that can even further help reduce damage and perhaps free up the slot that adaption takes.

For my other loadout I generally run Ignis Wraith, with a pretty standard damage/crit/multishot build with [Infected Clip] and [Primed Cryo Rounds] as you are attacking extremely fast you don't need to put +status chance on it.
Secondary isn't too important, at the moment im just using twin graktakakataka's.
With Melee as you attack so fast and have increased damage with your buffs I prefer a slower attacking weapon like [Gram Prime], or even [Fragor Prime]. Helps with getting the carnis set proc.
[Smeeta Kavat] always I love them, they good kitty, build survivability on it not damage. If you want a companion for damage, I recommend [Helios] preferably prime.

If you think I made some gramatical or punctional error please don't tell me, you're probably American and have never actually learnt English. Now you think I'm a stuck up brit but I'm not, I'm a stuck up Kiwi. Have a good one.

P.S. [Gauss] as base sprint speed of 1.4 compared to the 1.0 that most frames have, this is almost completely useless but you can hold sprint and go slower than if you were parkouring but its kinda funny.
