The Cutthroat's Blade | Rakta Dark Dagger

Hello everyone,

My name is UltimoFive and today we are going over the [Rakta Dark Dagger], The Cutthroat's Blade.

Weapon Information

  • The [Rakta Dark Dagger] is the Rakta Syndicate Version of the [Dark Dagger] and is obtained by buying the weapon from the Red Veil Syndicate Faction. The player must be at the rank of Exalted in order to get the Dagger for 125,000 standing or it can be traded from a player who has it at rank 0 with no Forma or Orokin Catalyst installed.

  • The Rakta Dark Dagger requires a mastery rank of 8.

  • The [Rakta Dark Dagger] comes with 1 "V" Polarity Slot, plus a "Dash" Stance Slot. Because of this, the builds on this weapon will require 2 forma.

  • The Rakta Dark Dagger excels against Single Targets and Small Crowd Slaughter of all factions in High Leveled Areas.

  • The [Rakta Dark Dagger] grants Mind Haze, a buff that lasts 30 seconds and reduces the range where enemies can spot the player. Due to this innate bonus the Dagger is well suited for stealth gameplay.

Comparison to the Original Dark Dagger

The Rakta Dark Dagger has a few buffs when compared to the original Dark Dagger. These stats would be:

  • Higher Base Damage at 246.0 Vs. 154.0

  • Higher Critical Chance at 12% Vs. 8%

  • Higher Critical Multiplier at 1.8x Vs. 1.5x

  • Higher Status Chance at 30% Vs. 22%

  • Higher Attack Speed at 1.00 Vs. 0.92

Advantages Vs. Disadvantages

Advantages:

  • Very High Status Chance at 30%

  • Grants the Buff Mind Haze, Ideal for Stealth Gameplay

  • Heavy Attacks open enemies up to Finishers

  • Attacking an enemy with the dagger under a Radiation proc restores shields and can grants overshield to the player, as long as shields were present on the player before the attack.

Disadvantages:

  • Below Average Critical Multiplier at 1.8x

  • Low Critical Chance at 12%

  • Low Range at 1.75 Meters

Builds

Corpus: Total Damage - | Average Hit - | Sustained DPS - | Tested up to Level 150 at Max Stacks

The Element for the [Rakta Dark Dagger] against the Corpus will be Viral. Viral amplifies health damage by 100% for 6 seconds and stacks up to 10 times for a total of 325%. The Build's Flex Slot is Berserker or [Gladiator Might] and works out great. Viral is necessary against the Corpus due to just how much it amplifies damage and going Toxin does practically nothing with this Dagger. There isn't much else to say other than it utilizes the stance's forced Slash Procs to assist in damage against the Corpus as well. However, it doesn't need a Corpus Smite mod in order to deal with enemies.

Corrupted & Grineer: Total Damage - 838.9 | Average Hit - 22,642.2 | Sustained DPS - 22,642.2 | Tested up to Level 150 at Max Stacks

The Element for the [Rakta Dark Dagger] against the Corrupted and Grineer will be Viral. The Build's Flex Slot is [Primed Smite Grineer] and Corrupted or [Gladiator Might] and works pretty great even though the weapon has little Slash Damage. The reason for this is due to the build utilizing the stance [Stinging Thorn] in order to apply Slash statuses. It's basic combo string has the ability to force 3 slash procs and upon heavy attacks will force 2 slash procs. Along with the almost 100% Status Chance and Critical Stacking, this weapon becomes a massive killer against the Corrupted and Grineer.

Infested: Total Damage - | Average Hit - | Sustained DPS - | Tested up to Level 150 at Max Stacks

The Element for the [Rakta Dark Dagger] against the Infested will be Gas. Gas deals 50% base damage per second for 6 seconds in a 3 meter radius and stacks up to 10 times to a total of 6 meters. The Build's Flex Slot is Berserker or [Gladiator Might] and surprisingly works very well. Gas is on the build in order to help deal with multiple enemies at once since the Dagger's Stance makes it attack forward mostly and not sweep. Considering this, you would think Viral would work better, but sadly it just doesn't do as good as gas would. Also, Viral is technically included with the build via [Gleaming Blight], which releases a radial Viral Blast.

Finisher Build: Tested up to Level 150

The Finisher Build for the [Rakta Dark Dagger] focuses on stacking Critical Multiplier, Initial Combo, Melee Damage, and Finisher Damage in order for the weapon to deal the largest amount of Damage possible during a finisher. The Build's Flex Slot is [Primed Fury] and should only be taken out if it is being replaced with a different source of Attack Speed or Melee Damage increase. [Primed Fury] is on the build in order to speed up the animation of Finishers, which caps at 50% attack speed. Meanwhile, [Amalgam Organ Shatter] is on the build due to the Single Dagger's unique Heavy Attack which opens enemies up to Finishers. This build was originally what I used on my [Covert Lethality] build for [Ash Prime], but ended up working extremely well on all stealth frames and can even work into loud missions such as Extermination, Sabotage, or Capture.

Recommended Alternative Mods

  • Smite Mods - In place of their Primed Counterparts if you don't have them.

  • Pressure Point - In place of Primed Pressure Point in the Finisher Build if you don't have it.

  • Quickening or Fury - In place of Primed Fury in the Finisher Build if you don't have it.

  • Amalgam Organ Shatter - In place of Organ Shatter in the Faction Builds if you use Heavy Attacks and are okay with losing 5% Critical Damage.

  • (Primed) Reach - In place of The Build's Flex Slot if you want more range on the weapon.

  • Drifting Contact - In place of The Build's Flex Slot for helping with Combo Duration If you don't have Naroman focus or can't handle the combo chain duration.

  • Gladiator Rush - In place of The Build's Flex Slot for helping with Combo Duration If you don't have Naroman focus or can't handle the combo chain duration.

Synergy with Rakta Dark Dagger

There are several ways to enhance Critical Stats, Damage, and Utility for this weapon:

Damage:

  • Rhino's Roar adds bonus damage.

  • Valkyr's Warcry bolsters attack speed, in turn increasing DPS.

  • [Nova]'s Molecular Prime makes all sources of damage increase by 100% against primed enemies, on top of that they will detonate upon death dealing blast damage.

  • Mirage's Eclipse mixed with her Hall of Mirrors adds a massive damage bonus during the day or in light.

  • Saryn's Toxic Lash mixed with her Spores abilities.

  • Equinox's Rest & Rage in Day Form makes targets more vulnerable to Damage.

  • Volt's Speed bolsters Attack Speed, in turn increasing DPS.

  • Chroma's Vex Armor when Health gets damaged increases Weapon Damage.

Critical Stats:

  • Harrow's Covenant can add up to 50% Critical Chance and 200% on headshots.

  • Adarza Kavat with Cat's Eye can give a 60% Critical Chance boost.

  • Smeeta Kavat with Charm can give a 200% Crit Chance.

Utility:

Arcane Synergy

  • Arcane Strike - On Hit, 15% chance for 60% Attack Speed to Melee Weapons for 18 seconds.

  • Arcane Fury - On Critical Hit, 60% chance for 180% Melee Damage to Melee Weapons for 18 seconds.

  • Arcane Blade Charger - On Primary Weapon Kill, 30% chance for 300% Melee Damage for 12 seconds.

Riven Synergy

When you get your hands on a Riven for this weapon the Flex Slot to replace will be the Build's said Flex Slot previously discussed and can cost up to 2 more Forma. In order to maximize Damage Output with the Rakta Dark Dagger, one will need to get lucky and get some nice stats. These Ideal Stats would be:

  • Higher Average Damage - For Higher Average Damage the stats would be; Melee Damage, Critical Damage, Critical Chance, and Negative Puncture Damage or Negative Finisher Damage as long as you don't add the Riven onto the Finisher Build.

  • Higher Sustained DPS - For Higher Sustained DPS the stats would be; Melee Damage, Critical Damage, Attack Speed, and Negative Puncture Damage or Negative Finisher Damage as long as you don't add the Riven onto the Finisher Build.

Something to mention is that increased Finisher Damage isn't at all necessary for this weapon. This is due to the dagger being so strong that it can easily assassinate all enemies that I have tested on, which has been up to level 150.
