The Flintlock Repeater | Prisma Grinlok

Hello everyone,

My name is UltimoFive and today we are going over the [Prisma Grinlok], The Flintlock Repeater.

Weapon Information

  • [Prisma Grinlok] is the Prisma Version of the [Grinlok] and is obtained by buying the weapon from Baro Ki'Teer, when he has it in stock, for 220,000 Credits and 500 Ducats or can be traded from a player who has it at rank 0 with no Forma or Orokin Catalyst installed.

  • Prisma Grinlok requires a mastery rank of 11.

  • Prisma Grinlok comes with 1 "V" Polarity Slot, plus a "V" Exilus Slot. Because of this, the builds on this weapon will require 3 - 4 forma.

  • [Prisma Grinlok] excels in Close to Long Range Combat and deals with high leveled enemies of all factions in Small to Medium Crowds, but mainly against Single Targets.

Comparison to the Original Grinlok

The Prisma Grinlok has a few buffs when compared to the original Grinlok in different areas. These stats would be:

  • Higher Critical Chance at 21% Vs. 15%

  • Higher Critical Multiplier at 2.9x Vs. 2.5x

  • Higher Status Chance at 37% Vs. 35%

  • Larger Magazine Size at 21 Rounds Vs. 9 Rounds

  • The only nerf this weapon received when compared to its original is its Reduced Accuracy at 32.0 Vs. 44.0

Advantages Vs. Disadvantages

Advantages:

  • High Critical Chance at 21%

  • Very High Critical Multiplier at 2.9x

  • Very High Status Chance at 37%

  • Little Vertical Recoil

  • Very Small Spread

  • Excellent Ammo Efficiency

Disadvantages:

  • Low Puncture Damage at 18.7 / 10%

  • Very Slow Fire Rate at 1.57 Rounds Per Second

Builds

Corpus: Total Damage - 4,524.1 | Average Hit - 19,858.2 | Burst DPS - 33,097.0 | Sustained DPS - 29,162.4 | Tested up to Level 145 | 3 Forma

The Elements for the Prisma Grinlok against the Corpus will be Viral/Electricity. Viral amplifies health damage by 100% for 6 seconds and stacks up to 10 times for a total of 325%. Meanwhile, Electricity stuns the target for 3 seconds and deals 50% base damage per second for 6 seconds. The Build's Flex Slot is Primed Bane of Corpus and works well with 2-3 shotting all normal Corpus enemies, but has slight issues against Alloy Armored enemies on the Corpus Side, mainly the Bursa.

Corrupted & Grineer: Total Damage - 2,368.1 | Average Hit - 12,990.3 | Burst DPS - 21,650.5 | Sustained DPS - 19,076.7 | Tested up to Level 145 | DPS calculated without [Hunter Munitions] | 4 Forma

The Element for the [Prisma Grinlok] against the Corrupted and Grineer will be Slash. Slash's status effect is Bleed and after 1 second it deals 35% of the base damage per second for 6 seconds, which bypasses armor. The Build's Flex Slot is Heavy Caliber and works great for 1-3 shotting all Corrupted and Grineer enemies. The only issue with this weapon is that it is sometimes inconsistent with actually being able to 1-3 shot enemies and sometimes can take 4-5 shots. However, if one wants a build that is more consistent, than one can follow the Viral/Slash Build.

  • Viral/Slash Build: Total Damage - 3,210.7 | Average Hit - 14,092.9 | Burst DPS - 23,488.2 | Sustained DPS - 20,695.9 | Tested up to Level 145 | DPS calculated without [Hunter Munitions] | 3 Forma

The Viral/Slash Build performs roughly about the same as the first Build. However, it ended up dealing less Bleed Damage based on the number of shots. Enemies with this build would die consistently from 2-4 shots, but the one before takes 1-3 shots inconsistently and this Alternative Build's Flex Slot is Primed Bane of Corrupted or Grineer.

Infested: Total Damage - 4,524.1 | Average Hit - 19,858.2 | Burst DPS - 33,097.0 | Sustained DPS - 29,162.4 | Tested up to Level 145 | 3 Forma

The Element for the [Prisma Grinlok] against the Infested will be Gas. Gas deals 50% base damage per second for 6 seconds in a 3 meter radius and stacks up to 10 times to a total of 6 meters. The Build's Flex Slot is [Primed Bane Of Infested] and works fantastic, at least with its AOE capabilities. Even though Gas doesn't do well to bigger enemies it actually works more as a Gas Barrier. Why use 40 plus shots to take out a horde of infested when you can use 9 on one enemy and yield the same results? If you choose to not use Gas, than the next best Element combination would be Viral/Heat as long as you aren't taking this weapon onto Deimos.

Recommended Alternative Mods

  • Smite Mods - In place of their Primed Counterparts if you don't have them.

  • (Primed) Shred - In place of the Build's Flex Slot to assist more into Late Gameplay, such as the Steel Path.

  • Point Strike - In place of the Build's Flex Slot to increase the Critical Chance to almost 100%

Non-Recommended Alternative Mods

  • No Exilus Mod - Now, I am not saying it is bad to have an Exilus Mod. I am just saying it isn't all that necessary. However, if you do want a mod there, than just don't forma for a Ammo Mutation Mod. It definitely isn't worth it due to the weapons great Ammo Capacity. (Note: Terminal Velocity would be great, but it is bugged and can't be equipped.)

  • Internal Bleeding - You would think that this mod would perform great on the [Prisma Grinlok], but sadly it doesn't. Impact Procs only appear 40% of the time, which is reduced even more if you add elements. In the Corrupted and Grineer Build's the average Status Chance is 74 and although it is high, it is nothing when compared to just using [Hunter Munitions].

Synergy with Prisma Grinlok

There are several ways to enhance Critical Chance and Damage for this weapon:

Damage:

  • Rhino's Roar adds bonus damage.

  • [Nova]'s Molecular Prime makes all sources of damage increase by 100% against primed enemies, on top of that they will detonate upon death dealing blast damage.

  • Saryn's Toxic Lash mixed with her Spores abilities.

  • Mirage's Eclipse adds a massive damage bonus during the day or in light.

  • Equinox's Rest & Rage in Day Form makes targets more vulnerable to Damage.

  • Wisp's Haste Reservoir bolsters fire rate, in turn increasing DPS.

Critical Stats:

  • Harrow's Covenant can add up to 50% Critical Chance and 200% on headshots.

  • Volt's Electric Shield when shot through adds a 200% Critical Damage Multiplier.

  • Zephyr's Passive increases Critical Chance by 150% while airborne.

  • Adarza Kavat with Cat's Eye can give a 60% Critical Chance boost. (Only Activates Within 25 meters though)

  • Smeeta Kavat with Charm can give a 200% Crit Chance.

Arcane Synergy

  • Arcane Acceleration - On Critical Hit, 30% chance for 90% Fire Rate for 9 seconds.

  • Arcane Rage - Upon getting a Headshot, 15% chance for 180% Damage to Primary Weapons for 24 seconds.

  • Arcane Avenger - Upon being damaged, 21% chance for 45% Critical Chance for 12 seconds.

  • Arcane Primary Charger - On Melee Kill, 30% chance for 300% damage to Primary Weapons for 12 seconds.

  • Arcane Arachne - On Wall Latch, 150% Damage for 30 seconds.

Riven Synergy

When you get your hands on a Riven for this weapon the Flex Slot to replace will be Heavy Caliber for the Slash Build and Primed Bane of Corrupted or Grineer for the Viral/Slash Build under the Corrupted and Grineer Builds. Meanwhile, for the Corpus the Flex Slot to replace will be [Primed Bane Of Corpus] and [Primed Bane Of Infested] for the Infested. This will require at least 1 more Forma and in order to maximize Damage output with Prisma Grinlok, one will need to get lucky and get some nice stats. These stats would be:

  • Ideal Stats - The Ideal Stats would be; Damage, Fire Rate, Multishot, and Negative Zoom or Negative Weapon Recoil.

  • Secondary Ideal Stats - The Next Best Stats would be; Damage, Multishot, Critical Damage, and Negative Zoom or Negative Weapon Recoil.
