The Soul Manipulator | Nekros Prime

Hello everyone,

My name is UltimoFive and today we are going over [Nekros Prime], The Soul Manipulator.

Frame Information

  • [Nekros Prime] is the Prime Version of [Nekros] and was released alongside Tigris Prime and Galatine Prime. In order to obtain [Nekros Prime] one must open a variety of relics that contain his Blueprint, Chassis, Systems, and Neuroptics in order to make him at the foundry.

  • Nekros Prime requires a Mastery Rank of 0.

  • Nekros Prime comes with 1 "V", 1 "Dash", and 1 "D" Polarity Slot. Because of this, the builds on him will require 3 forma.

  • [Nekros Prime] exploits the vulnerabilities of the living and the corpses of the dead. With his necromantic abilities he becomes a great Utility Support. Whether it be Farming for Extra Loot, Crowd Control, or Revitalization. [Nekros Prime] fits into almost every situation one needs in a party.

Comparison to Original Nekros

Nekros Prime has been buffed compared to the Original Nekros. These buffs would be:

  • Higher Shields at 150/450 Vs. 90/ 270

  • Higher Armor at 125 Vs. 100

  • Higher Energy at 125/188 Vs. 100/150

  • Comes with an Additional "Dash" Polarity Slot

Advantages Vs. Disadvantages

Advantages:

  • High Shield Pool at 150/450

  • Above Average Sprint Speed at 1.10

Disadvantages:

  • Extremely Low Armor at 125

  • Below Average Energy Pool at 125/188

Ability & Augmentation Overview

  • Passive - [Nekros]' Passive makes it so he regenerates 5 points of Health any time an enemy dies within 10 meters of him, which can also Heal Companions. This is a pretty simple Passive, but is still very useful. In the case of desecrating for loot it will help heal off some of the damage taken when using Desecrate with its Augmentation.

  • Soul Punch - [Nekros]' First Ability lunges a blow so powerful that it turns the enemy's very soul into a projectile that damages all in its path. Enemies that survive are Marked for Harvesting and will become one of [Nekros]' Shadows when killed with the mark active. With his Augmentation, [Soul Survivor], it allows [Nekros] to use Soul Punch on his allies that are bleeding out to revive them with partial Health at the cost of all [Nekros]' energy. This ability is a little lacking, unless used to get a Shadow of the Dead that Synergizes with your fourth Ability's Augment. However, I decided to try out something different and made a Heavy Support Build in order to utilize his first and second abilities. Come on guys, he needs a bit more love than just being a loot collector.

  • Terrify - [Nekros]' Second Ability releases a fearing blast that causes enemies to flee in terror and temporarily reduces their armor. With his Augmentation, [Creeping Terrify], it makes it so all affected enemies are slowed down. This ability, just like the first is a bit lack luster and not only that, but quite expensive to cast at 75 Energy. However, this matches with the Dark Cleric Build that utilizes his first and second abilities to support allies.

  • Desecrate - [Nekros]' Third Ability emits an aura of dark power that consumes corpses, forcing them to drop additional loot. With his Augmentation, [Despoil], it allows this ability to consume Health instead of Energy on Cast and when Consuming Corpses. This ability is the bread and butter of [Nekros], if you play [Nekros], you pretty much are going to use this ability in one way or another. There really isn't too much else to say about this ability, except it is practically always used for Farming...or is it.

  • Shadows of the Dead - [Nekros]' Fourth Ability summons shadow versions of his most recently slain enemies to fight for him for a short period of time with increased Shields, Health, and Damage. With his Augmentation, [Shield Of Shadows], it allows [Nekros] to transfer a percentage of Damage he receives to any active shadow minion within range. This ability isn't much without its Augmentation to be honest. However, it still is an outstanding ability that makes [Nekros] incredibly tanky as long as he has his army of shadows active.

Builds

The Army of the Dead:

The Army of the Dead Build for [Nekros Prime] utilizes a Large increase to Strength, a Medium increase to Duration, and a Large Decrease to Efficiency. The Build's Flex Slot is [Health Conversion] and works great into late game by turning [Nekros] into a super tank through the utilization of [Shield Of Shadows], [Adaptation], and [Health Conversion]. Also, this is one of those cases where you aren't using his [Despoil] for farming loot, but for sustain. This is achieved through utilizing [Equilibrium] in order to keep Health and Energy at Max as much as possible, so the player can recast Shadow Army when needed and keep desecrating the area.

The Loot Farmer:

The Loot Farmer Build for [Nekros Prime] utilizes an Extremely Large increase to Range, a Medium increase to Duration, and an Extremely Large Decrease to Strength. The Build's Flex Slot is [Augur Reach] and works really well. The main reason for [Shield Of Shadows] being on this build is the numbers. Sure, the Damage [Redirection] won't be as good as the Build before, but it does spawn multiple allies, making it so you aren't the only one getting targeted. Also, considering the player has max Range for [Despoil] the player will be dropping Energy Orbs constantly and will always be able to have shadows up.

The Dark Cleric:

The Dark Cleric Build for [Nekros Prime] utilizes a Medium increase to Range and Strength, and a Small increase to Duration. The Build's Flex Slot is [Stretch] and was something I wanted to play around with. The Build is focused at turning [Nekros Prime] into a Support through the utilization of Terrify, Soul Punch with its Augmentation, and [Power Donation]. Due to this heavy support change the player can no longer rely on [Despoil] in order to sustain them. However, it can still be taken into Late Game or even the Steel Path.

Recommended Alternative Modifications

First off, the Aura slot can be whatever you want it to be. As long as it benefits you and what you are doing currently than realistically anything can work there. For instance [Steel Charge] is a fantastic Aura mod, but [Swift Momentum] could be a better choice depending on the situation. You could even use an Aura Forma on him so any mod could go there and not just Madurai "V" mods.

  • Intensify - In place of Umbral Intensify if you don't have it.

  • Continuity - In place of Primed Continuity if you don't have it.

  • Sevagoth's Gloom - In place of Soul Punch in the Army of the Dead Build if the player wants a bit more Crowd Control mixed with even more sustain. However, it can become difficult to maintain due to the High Energy Usage if you aren't killing enemies quickly and constantly.

  • Chroma's Elemental Ward - In place of Soul Punch in the Army of the Dead Build if the player wants optional buffs that can assist them into battle.

  • Rhino's Roar - In place of Desecrate in the Dark Cleric Build if the player wants more buff options for themselves and allies.

  • Valkyr's Warcry - In place of Desecrate in the Dark Cleric Build if the player wants not only more buff options for themselves and allies, but also for more Crowd Control.

Arcane Synergy

  • Arcane Energize - Upon Energy Pickup, 60% chance to replenish Energy to nearby allies.

  • Arcane Grace - Upon Health being Damaged, 9% chance for 6% Health Regen for 9 seconds.

  • Arcane Eruption - Upon Energy Pickup, 100% chance to Knockdown nearby enemies.

  • Arcane Victory - Upon Headshot Kill, 75% chance for 3% Health Regen for 9 seconds.

  • Arcane Guardian - Upon being Damaged, 15% chance for 900 Armor for 20 seconds.

  • Arcane Nullifier - Which provides a 102% chance to resist a Magnetic Status Effect entirely.
