Sevagoth: Base Abilities/Resonator/Ensnare - Death Well Upkeep

Sevagoth Gameplay Guide

[Sevagoth] combines crowd control and damage vulnerability debuffs on enemies to dispatch large groups of them with ease. His passive can save him from suboptimal situations but it requires five nearby enemies to bring him back during the bleedout timer. Enemies that are immune to Gloom's slowing effect can force him to rely on Exalted Shadow or weapons in his loadout.

📝 Build Overview 📝

Death Well is the resource pool used to activate Exalted Shadow and there are several ways to build it up actively and passively. This build utilizes Gloom while you're already in Exalted Shadow to keep the Death Well resource up for as long as possible.

🔢 Helminth Options 🔢

Base abilities are used in this build as it can utilize Reap and Sow along with Exalted Shadow. If you're not planning on using the nuke from Sow then it becomes the weakest ability in the build and can be replaced.

Resonator can be used to crowd control enemies while you're in Exalted Shadow but it may need additional Duration to be used efficiently.

Ensnare is a great crowd control ability but can't be used while you're in the Exalted Shadow.

Larva is the cheapest crowd control ability but it has low range and can't be used while you're in Exalted Shadow.

Other abilities are decent but provide a lot of redundancy due to the existence of operator mode and the previously mentioned abilities.

📊 Ability Stats 📊

Range and Efficiency are the two primary stats in this build to keep Gloom activated for as long as possible. Duration is kept around the baseline but this comes at the cost of ability Strength due to a lack of mod slots.

⏲️ Duration ⏲️

Duration is kept around the baseline to ensure that Gloom's energy cost and spread rate are efficient. Some subsumed abilities need additional Duration so flex mods can be replaced for it.

⛽ Efficiency ⛽

Efficiency is boosted to the maximum so that Gloom lasts for as long as possible. Fleeting Expertise has negative synergy with some abilities that have Duration scaling so it's a flex mod in those scenarios.

📏 Range 📏

Range is significantly increased so that Gloom and other abilities affect as many enemies as possible. [Augur Reach] and Stretch becomes flex mods on smaller tilesets but be careful decreasing it too much as Gloom becomes less impactful.

💪 Strength 💪

Strength is lowered by [Overextended] and we don't use it for anything in this build. Gloom is simply used to passively grant Death Well souls and the Reap and Sow combo has percentage health scaling that doesn't need ability Strength. Only increase it if some of your subsumed abilities or the Claws in Exalted Shadow are your primary focus in this build.

↔️ Alternate Playstyles ↔️

Most builds utilize tools that can be swapped out to serve the same purpose albeit in a different manner. The following suggestions are an outline and aren't exhaustive.

🔧 Mods 🔧

  • [Mecha Empowered] and [Mecha Pulse] allow you to defeat enemies with meta weapons rather than relying on your abilities. They can be replaced if you don't want to use the Mecha set mods or a Mecha set companion.
  • [Primed Sure Footed] is a great survival tool and provides a large boost to your quality of life. It can be replaced if you're using abilities or other mods that serve the same purpose.
  • Fleeting Expertise and Primed Continuity are flex mods depending on which subsumed ability that you choose to add to the build.
  • Overextended, Stretch, and Augur Reach are flex mods on small tilesets.
  • Shield gating, Operator mode, and the Exalted Shadow are your primary sources of survivability. If you're having issues against high level enemies you can slot in Brief Respite or Rolling Guard for an additional survival option.
  • [Sevagoth] should use augments for his subsumed abilities if they're necessary but the build is already very tight on mods in the current state.

⚙️ Arcanes ⚙️

Arcane Energize synergizes with [Primed Flow] and keeps your energy topped off. It can be replaced if you have multiple strong forms of energy recovery either through abilities or allied energy support frames. Offensive arcanes like Arcane Avenger or Arcane [Fury] are usually the call.

Arcane Strike synergizes with meta melee weapons and allows the Mecha set to deal with enemies more quickly. It can be replaced if you opt to use guns or abilities instead. Tertiary defensive mods like Arcane Aegis and Arcane Guardian are usually the call.

📋 Final Notes 📋

Reap instantly weakens nearby enemies and it deals percentage based damage when they're under the effects of Sow. Using Reap as fast as possible can cause it to bug out and fail to hit enemies even when they're within the ability radius.

Consume from Exalted Shadow instantly kills most enemies while [Sevagoth] is bleeding out but it doesn't work against everything. Listing off every exception would significantly increase the size of this guide but the general rule is that the enemies that are known for being immune to abilities will also be immune to Consume.

Exalted Shadow doesn't carry over the buffs, arcanes, and set mods from the base [Sevagoth] loadout. Set mods are actually turned off completely while in Exalted Shadow. This is slightly alleviated by how easy it is to switch back and forth between the two forms. Any outliers are most likely not intended because they're extremely inconsistent with the very small minority of exceptions.
