Sevagoth: Base Abilities/Breach Surge/Eclipse - High Cost Gloom

Sevagoth Gameplay Guide

[Sevagoth] combines crowd control and damage vulnerability debuffs on enemies to dispatch large groups of them with ease. His passive can save him from suboptimal situations but it requires five nearby enemies to bring him back during the bleedout timer. Enemies that are immune to Gloom's slowing effect can force him to rely on Exalted Shadow or weapons in his loadout.

📝 Build Overview 📝

Gloom is a powerful crowd control ability and this build attempts to utilize it over long distances. It requires some sacrifices to keep the Range and Strength high enough to be impactful but any downtime can be supplemented by using the Exalted Shadow.

🔢 Helminth Options 🔢

Base abilities can be used in this build as it can utilize Reap and Sow along with Exalted Shadow. If you're not planning on using the nuke from Sow then it becomes the weakest ability in the build and can be replaced.

Breach Surge synergizes with the build's focus on crowd control while also utilizing its damage potential. It requires a recast periodically so it will impact your energy economy.

Roar, Eclipse, and other damage buffs can synergize with this build but they will need additional Duration to not have a crippling effect on your energy upkeep.

Silence synergizes with Gloom to put enemies into a stunned state that exponentially scales with the slow. It isn't necessary in most content but can be a massive boon to survivability against extremely high level enemies.

Ensnare, Larva and other crowd control abilities can supplement Gloom but they have some redundancy against lower level enemies due to their inability to propagate to new targets.

Other abilities are decent but provide a lot of redundancy due to the existence of operator mode and the previously mentioned abilities.

📊 Ability Stats 📊

Strength and Range are important on this build as they keep Gloom at its max output. Duration is slightly boosted to allow the aura to spread more quickly but this comes at the cost of Efficiency due to a lack of mod slots.

⏲️ Duration ⏲️

Duration is boosted by a small amount to allow Gloom to spread more quickly at a slightly cheaper cost. It also has minor synergy with Sow if you choose to use it. Flex mods can be replaced for additional Duration at your discretion.

⛽ Efficiency ⛽

Efficiency is hurt by [Blind Rage] but we try to bring it back up with [Streamline]. [Fleeting Expertise] is stronger but it slows down how quickly Gloom spreads so you'll end up having issues hitting the max Range if you activate it below max energy. If you're playing with multiple other players using energy regeneration that works when channeled abilities are activated then Streamline becomes a flex mod.

📏 Range 📏

Range is pumped up to give Gloom a larger effect radius across all content. Smaller tilesets can cut [Stretch] or [Overextended] but losing a significant amount of Range would just make this build an inferior version of the Low Cost Gloom variant.

💪 Strength 💪

Strength needs to be at 272% or higher to get the full 95% slow from Gloom. Slowing effects are exponential multipliers on total animation speed so losing even a few percentage points can make a huge difference. This build opts to hit the breakpoint with [Blind Rage] but it sacrifices Efficiency and requires multiple mods that have conditional states. Swap these mods around as you see fit but be mindful of keeping your Strength near the breakpoint.

↔️ Alternate Playstyles ↔️

Most builds utilize tools that can be swapped out to serve the same purpose albeit in a different manner. The following suggestions are an outline and aren't exhaustive.

🔧 Mods 🔧

  • [Growing Power] is easy to proc and is necessary for Gloom to hit the Strength breakpoint. It can be replaced with other auras if you're using additional Strength sources in your loadout to hit the breakpoint instead.
  • [Power Drift] is a weak source of Strength but it's necessary to hit the breakpoint. Replace it if you have other sources of ability Strength.
  • [Streamline] isn't necessary if you're utilizing multiple sources of energy regeneration that work when a channeled ability is activated.
  • [Blind Rage] and Energy Conversion are flex Strength mods that can be replaced if you're utilizing outside sources of Strength bonuses.
  • Augur set mods and shield gating synergize with the massive slow from Gloom to provide your primary source of survivability. [Rolling Guard] can be slotted in against extremely high level enemies that can still kill you quicker than you can upkeep your shield gate.
  • [Sevagoth] should use augments for his subsumed abilities if they're necessary but the build is already very tight on mods in the current state.

⚙️ Arcanes ⚙️

Arcane Energize synergizes with [Primed Flow] and keeps your energy topped off. It can be replaced if you have other strong forms of energy recovery either through abilities or allied energy support frames. Offensive arcanes like Arcane Avenger or Arcane [Fury] are usually the call.

Arcane Aegis synergizes with shield recovery to provide a massive boost to your survivability. It can be replaced if you don't like the random nature of the proc. Tertiary defensive arcanes like Arcane Guardian or Arcane Grace are usually the call.

📋 Final Notes 📋

Reap instantly weakens nearby enemies and it deals percentage based damage when they're under the effects of Sow. Using Reap as fast as possible can cause it to bug out and fail to hit enemies even when they're within the ability radius.

Consume from Exalted Shadow instantly kills most enemies while [Sevagoth] is bleeding out but it doesn't work against everything. Listing off every exception would significantly increase the size of this guide but the general rule is that the enemies that are known for being immune to abilities will also be immune to Consume.

Exalted Shadow doesn't carry over the buffs, arcanes, and set mods from the base [Sevagoth] loadout. Set mods are actually turned off completely while in Exalted Shadow. This is slightly alleviated by how easy it is to switch back and forth between the two forms. Any outliers are most likely not intended because they're extremely inconsistent with the very small minority of exceptions.
