Shaolin's Spade | Tipedo Prime

Hello everyone,

My name is UltimoFive and today we are going over the [Tipedo Prime], Shaolin's Spade.

Weapon Information

  • [Tipedo Prime] is the Prime Version of [Tipedo] and was released alongside Stradavar Prime and Equinox Prime. In order to obtain [Tipedo Prime] one must open a variety of relics that contain the Blueprint, Handle, and 2 Ornaments in order to make it at the foundry.

  • Tipedo Prime Requires a mastery rank of 10.

  • [Tipedo Prime] comes with a "V" and "D" Polarity Slot and alongside this a "R" Stance Slot, because of this the builds on this weapon require 3 forma.

  • Like most of my melee builds the [Tipedo Prime] excels in medium to large crowd slaughter, but at low level it can suffer with a few enemies around, unless using the Non-Stacking Build.

Comparison to Original Tipedo

The Tipedo Prime has a lot of buffs when compared to the original Tipedo in different areas. These stats would be:

  • Higher Base Damage at 170.0 Vs. 124.0

  • Higher Critical Chance at 24% Vs. 20%

  • Higher Critical Multiplier at 2.4x Vs. 2.0x

  • Higher Status Chance at 24% Vs. 20%

  • The only nerf the prime received compared to the original is the Lower Attack Speed at 1.17 Vs. 1.33

Advantages Vs. Disadvantages

Advantages:

  • High Critical Chance at 24%

  • High Critical Multiplier at 2.4x

  • High Status Chance at 24%

  • Fast Attack Speed at 1.17

Disadvantages:

  • Low Impact and Puncture Damage at 17.0 / 10% Each

Builds

Corpus: Tested up to Level 150

The Element for the [Tipedo Prime] against the Corpus will be Toxin. Toxin deals 50% base damage per second over 6 seconds and stacks indefinitely with each instance having its own timer. The Build's Flex Slot is [Gladiator Might] and is fairly straightforward with how good it is. Due to the high base Slash Damage it works well with the added Toxin Status to just decimate all enemies on the Corpus side. So, adding a [Weeping Wounds] just makes it insanely devastating, even to enemies like the Bursa.

Corrupted & Grineer: Tested up to Level 150

The Elements for the Tipedo Prime against the Corrupted and Grineer will be Viral/Slash. Slash's status effect is Bleed and after 1 second it deals 35% of the base damage per second for 6 seconds, which bypasses armor. The Build's Flex Slot is [Gladiator Might] and works very well. [Carnis Mandible] is on this build in order to balance out Slash and Viral Procs, so that you aren't just hitting mainly Viral. As well as this the 53% Status Chance works well enough with how fast you are hitting because of Berserker, so [Weeping Wounds] isn't even necessary.

Infested: Tested up to Level 150

The Elements for the Tipedo Prime against the Infested will be Viral/Slash or Corrosive/Heat. Corrosive reduces armor by 26% for 8 seconds and stacks up to 10 times for a total of 80%, meanwhile heat deals 50% base damage per second over 6 seconds while stripping up to 50% armor and causes targets to panic. The Build's Flex Slot is [Gladiator Might] and works well into late game. The reason why I have 2 element sets for this build is because while testing they both performed the same damage and took about the same amount of time. Viral/Slash does work into late game, but Corrosive/Heat works a bit better due to increased damage to fossilized infested.

Non-Stacking:

  • Corpus: Toxin - Tested up to Level 150

  • Corrupted and Grineer: Viral/Slash - Around Level 70 - 80

  • Infested: Corrosive/Heat - Tested up to Level 150

The Elements for the Tipedo Prime with the Non-Stacking build will follow Toxin for Corpus, Viral/Slash for Corrupted and Grineer, and Viral/Slash or Corrosive/Heat for Infested. This build is for people who want to use the weapon for priming [Condition Overload] or those who don't like stacking for increased Critical Chance or Damage. Note this build is mainly for those reasons I have listed and that this weapon does perform well against high leveled Corpus & Infested enemies.

(Also Note: Yes I know Slash mods don't increase base slash proc damage, but it does increase the chance of slash procs alongside increasing normal damage.)

Recommended Alternative Mods

  • Fever Strike - In place of Primed Fever Strike if you don't have it.

  • Pressure Point -In place of Primed Pressure Point if you don't have it.

  • Amalgam Organ Shatter - In place of Organ Shatter if you like using Heavy Attacks and don't mind the 5% Critical Damage loss.

  • Gladiator Rush - In place of Gladiator Might if you don't have Naroman focus or can't handle the combo chain duration.

  • Drifting Contact - In place of Gladiator Might if you don't have Naroman focus or can't handle the combo chain duration.

  • Sacrificial Steel - In place of True Steel in the Non-Stacking build, but requires one more "V" Forma. This in turn gives a huge boost to Critical Chance which can help the build into late game.

Non-Recommended Alternative Mods

Ways to increase Critical Chance and Damage

There are several ways to enhance Critical Chance and Damage for this weapon:

Damage:

  • Rhino's Roar adds bonus damage.

  • [Nova]'s Molecular Prime makes all sources of damage increase by 100% against primed enemies, on top of that they will detonate upon death dealing blast damage.

  • Saryn's Toxic Lash mixed with her Spores abilities.

  • Mirage's Eclipse mixed with her Hall of Mirrors adds a massive damage bonus during the day or in light.

  • [Banshee]'s Sonar gives a huge damage Multiplier. (Although a bit harder to Trigger, due to not being able to aim with a Melee Weapon)

  • Equinox's Rest & Rage in Day Form makes targets more vulnerable to Damage.

  • Valkyr's Warcry bolsters attack speed, in turn increasing DPS.

Critical Chance:

  • Harrow's Covenant can add up to 50% Critical Chance and 200% on headshots.

  • Adarza Kavat with Cat's Eye can give a 60% Critical Chance boost.

  • Smeeta Kavat with Charm can give a 200% Crit Chance.

Arcane Synergy

  • Arcane Fury - On Critical Hit, 60% chance for 180% Melee Damage to Melee Weapons for 18 seconds.

  • Arcane Blade Charger - On Primary Weapon Kill, 30% chance for 300% Melee Damage for 12 seconds.

  • Arcane Strike - On Hit, 15% chance for 60% Attack Speed to Melee Weapons for 18 seconds.
